Default Voice Recognition Automated Telephone Systems

It really fucks me off when I tell an automated voice recognition the account number, my name, postcode and any other information so they can "better direct my call" and then get asked for exactly the same information when I actually speak to someone. It isn't just the telecoms company I just rang, it seems to be a running theme when I ring large companies. They all have these systems and yet you have to give your details twice, once for the computer and once to the customer services rep because "the systems aren't linked".

Not linked? Who put in a fucking system that simply doesn't work? Cunts.

    lol

I have thought the same. I usually just press random buttons and fuck the whole process up until I get "Sorry, we weren't able to retrieve your details. We will put you onto an advisor".

    Thanks to Geko

I feel you - had it with credit cards a few times numbers, dates, dob etc and then when you reach a human same again. Probably just a queue management system so you feel like you're doing/getting somewhere.

oh, for any of you in the us I've heard selecting Mexican gets you through quicker and dodges Indian call centres and the operator will almost definitely speak english.

When I'm in a really bad mood I will reply to the human that it is what I told the system.

Geko's approach or just not pressing anything often works.

Back in the day I found pressing buttons for new sales/contracts always got you the quickest response but these days you often end up at a completely different department.
