I shit you not but I am working out of what used to be an asylum this week. Its no longer anything like that but apparently it was home to various lunatics in the area up until about 20 years ago.
One of the stories that came out in conversation today from an older lady that works there was about when the fire alarm went off a few years back and they all got evacuated from the building. Apparently when the fire engines rolled up and all the staff were out, someone was asking about the young lady who was up in the window when everyone rushed out, and if the fire crew had gotten her out. That part of the building has been locked down for years until we started using it about 8 months ago.
That and someone who runs the local sandwich van asking about what they do in the building and who the young girl is that's always stood in the window.
Currently it used for storing kit in relation to a project I'm working on which is why I'm there, but I've been there many times before on my own during winter when it gets dark early. Needless to say I've never seen or heard anything strange.
After I'd been told all this, I then found myself wondering around the first floor where this window is, holding a brand new Dell Venue with the camera on to see if it can see anything I can't whilst I mimic the noise of the ghost kid from The Ring - you can tell how serious I took it. I'd change my mind 'if' I actually saw something.
With regards to your dilemma mate its a tricky one. It could be something and nothing and if it happens at the same time every night then I'd be waiting for it so I can see where the noise is coming from. Then I'd come to a conclusion as to whether its dodgy plumbing or time to get the fuck out. If you're adopting a child then the last thing you need is for their head to get fucked up from bad vibes in the house if you and your Mrs are bricking it if it gets worse.
Plus if Hollywood has taught me anything its that evil spirits and young girls don't mix. It might be a load of bollocks but I wouldn't tempt fate.
