    Default S4 Glass Repair

    Hi all

Anyone have any experience of replacing the glass on the s4

Missus cracked her screen so i said id give it a go, went easy enough. old glass off, new glass on, all initially seemed good

But then the touchscreen wasnt working as it should, i cant do a long press, the phone thinks ive just tapped the screen, so its pretty much useless at the moment and a pain in the arse to use

Ive taken the glass off again, and the lch works perfect without the glass there

Could this just be down to cheap glass?

I would say yes, that or the digitizer isn't connected properly so check the connection. Didn't realise the glass was easy to replace, I always say to claim on insurance as front assembly is expensive.

Pretty straight forward for just the glass, heat the glue up and slowly lift it off

Lcd works perfect without the glass there, could it still be an issue with the digitizer?

Yes, the LCD and digitizer are independent of one another, LCD can work perfectly with the digitizer disconnected or connected.

I just had mine replaced last week and the guy that did it was telling me that there are two ways that people do it. One was with double sided strips between the edges outside the glass which leaves a gap between the glass and lcd and this can cause problems. The correct way is with a clear glue that fills between the glass and lcd. Thats the way mine was done and is perfect.

You have to use the correct glue to reapply the glass. (Cured with UV lamp) Without it you get unresponsive touch etc

Yea, i followed a few guides, all of which failed to mention the loca glue, so i did it twice, both times without the loca glue, had the unresponsive screen issues, then i read about the loca glue and it sorted it, pretty simple when you know how
