To be fair on ourselves, I don't think the whole "if you want a decent compact camera, buy a decent compact camera" argument holds as much water as it used to. I've always been a Cybershot fan and still have an almost brand new one that I never even touch. Cameras on the latest runs of flagship phones are easily on a par with consumer level compacts. As for the DSLR argument, I don't know anyone who carries one around as much as their phone.. I have a decent DSLR and lenses but for portability and convenience they're in different leagues, and pic quality on phones is outstanding now.

For the Elephones, I did as much research as I could in terms of camera image quality and more so the camera app and decided I'd be settling for less than I wanted with the app that the G4 has and I'm glad I spent a few more quid and got the G4. It's such a frigging relief to take a shot of the kids, look at the screen and think right away fucking hell that looks mint rather than meh.. It might look better once I've edited it.

Which is exactly what I want from one. No blurry shots, washed out because of light issues etc... I have the 4s and its camera is showing massive signs of ageing. Features lacking and it is slow.
I know I have been on here threatening to buy a Cheap Chinese phone, but the camera always puts me off.
So for me now it is either going to be a G4 based on what I have read or the next iPhone...

I am going to make that decision after Apples next announcement.

Should me 4s eventually die before then, I will pick up a cheap Chinese one like a P8000 to tide me over and help me with the transition to Android before making the final decision.

The only time mine takes blurry shots is if I havent waited for it to focus which can take a couple of seconds.
If I am patient it takes a spot on picture every time.
Bear in mind I have the lowly P6000 so would assume focusing is near instant on the P8000 plus doesnt it have a better lens/megapixel? Maybe bytesize can confirm.

Don't forget you can just press the shutter button on most new phones and it takes 40 pics at once!, well mine does ;-)

Newfrog have just sent an email offering the Cubot X12 for £60

I know it's poor spec in comparison, but does anyone have any experience with this model?

That's not a massive deal really is it. It goes for £60-£70 anyway which is probably about right for the low spec.

Hi Guys, sorry for lack of update .. I work in IT and we were hit with the Crypto Wall 3 Trojan, a bitch of a Trojan, luckily my backups good but hey of a few weeks .. glad its the weekend. Will have a proper play tonight and upload some video and photos and a brief review guys, bottom line though first impressions very good for a phone which only cost me £131 delivered ...

    Thanks to Bytesize

    Tech Re: Chinese phones

    Hi guys

Received this on Tuesday and thought you might like to see some pics. It really feels a good weight in the hands, very premium. No headphones come with the phone but they would probably be quite cheap ones anyway - best to buy some better quality ones seperate.

EU charger and USb cable with additional screen protector - the device comes with one pre-applied. After setting up on Wifi I checked for updates and it wanted an 850MB file. Quite a hefty update which it applied within minutes. Nice feature that when you bring down new apps like Google Music, it automatically puts them into the Media folder rather than the main desktop. Nice little touch.

Screen is glorious and really shows off the 1080p resolution. Souns is very good quality and ringtones are loud and clear with no distortion.

Power button and volume on the right-hand side and micro-USB to charge on the bottom.

Back snaps on just like the Galaxy S-range although this back cover is very tight indeed and requires considerable force to remove.

    Update dated as of 25.07.15

Battery is 4000mAh which should be good for a few days even with moderate to heavy usage.

    Thanks crazyal.

I buckled and ordered one last week. I dislike large phones.....but £110 for the specs is impossible to resist!

I've been advised by geekbuying, that they have no stock and are awaiting material for a production run, should ship mid august. Ordered mine about ten days ago.
