I've just this minute finished watching the pilot.

It is very well done and I hope it continues.

One piece of advice though is read the books. They go into way more detail about the biology of the vamps! the books trilogy are a terrific read

I can't emphasise enough the books. It is a trilogy and basically runs from day Zero right through to the end of humanity and the fight for survival. It focuses heavily on the biology side of the vamps.

For the tv series they did a cracking job of the casting of setrakian. I always envisioned in my head this is how he looked.

There is a Russian guy soon to be introduced, a vermin exterminator. I always imagined him to be a white version of the big black guy from The Green Mile. We will a see what he looks like when he is introduced.

There is a lot of the Setrakians past we haven't been told in the first series. The origins of the Master (the cloud vamp we all saw). Setrakians past focuses on his experience in a nazi death camp and how the Master came to become enemies with him.
