Apple .... beginning to piss me off

Two issue are beginning to really annoy me about apple products...

1) the charge and sync cables ... Both my iphone 5 lighting cable and ipad 3 30pin cables have both stopped working!!! are these things designed to fucking fail after the briefest of uses? I've went through countless cables, even the 3rd party ones don't last that long!

2) how bloody hard is it to get photos onto the dam things?! without a cable its impossible. I just want to drag a folder from my PC into a folder and for it to appear as a new album. none of this sync such folders you want pish.

tempted to sell up and get a Samsung

I have an Amazon basics lightening cable, used every day in the car for a year and this thing is rugged as fuck. I originally bought it because I didn't want a white cable clashing with the sexy black leather in my mota :. Should it fail within a year I am pretty sure Amazon will send you a new one gratis, their customer service is legendary.

For Photos I use the Google+ App, so I have my photos perfectly synced on my iPhone, Android Phone and my Desktop. Just drag the photos from your PC into the Google+ web thingy and voila, they pop up on all my other devices.

If you're not feeling Google+ and want to use the stock gallery App, you could just create a folder on your PC with the photos you want, install the iCloud Control Panel and then point it to the photos folder on your PC. It will do a great job of syncing those photos to your iPad (stock gallery app) and keeping them there for offline viewing.

The caveat is that you are limited to 1000 photos and then the earlier ones drop off your iPad etc.. etc..

Photos you can either use dropbox, other similar apps, email them and save to device, iCloud control panel or set iTunes to sync a folder on your PC and put any photos you want in that folder and it will transfer to the phone automatically. I use the latter option and have Windows automatically transfer new photos from my phone to PC when it is connected.

im trying to find more of an offline alternative to putting folders of photos on the iPad without using itunes. Offshore we don't have a great internet connection

Needs iTunes installed, but gives direct access to your Photos on your Apple device without all the added Apple bullshit.

I gave the Mrs one..... an Ipad that is, she bought it for me for Christmas and I hated jumping through hoops to get anything done, now she moans to me about it lol.

Get yourself a top of the range android tablet and you'll forget all about the Ipad.

After owning Samsung galaxy note phone and went off Samsung I decided to get a Sony Xperia Z Tablet and never looked back.

Tbh my work lighting cable must get plugged on and off 30-50 times a day 4 days a week and never any issues unless the phones dock is full of crap ...... Anyway another vote here for Dropbox set to wifi sync when at home or itools really is super useful program instead of iTunes yet to find anything better IMO than iTools

Android FTW these days..

There is a third way... Windows Phone 8.1. I've just gotten myself a nice new Nokia Lumia 930 (alongside my work iPhone 5S and my LG G2) and its fast becoming my favourite of the 3 handsets. WP App store now has everything I need, OS is fluid, intuitive and good looking and the 20mp camera is the best of the bunch by a long shot. Its great to finally have a choice between iOS and Android.

I haven't had issues with cables, although the one that came with my ipod is looking ready to die, but I have had it almost 5 years.

As for photo transfer, or anything else for that matter, its a fucking royal pain in the ass and for me a major reason to not buy apple. After trying copytrans and a few others, I just lubed up and took itunes with all its down points. I found that if you ever needed to use itunes for another reason and you had been using 3rd party apps for anything, it would always end up making shit worse.

I have never had any issues with any of my cables, the trick is don't use them when they are plugged in, and if you do need to use them, avoid straining the cable at the lightening/dock end as you will get that little bubble in the cord which will eventually turn into a fray. Same with the magsafe cable on your macbook, use the little clip that is on the cable to make a small loop at the magsafe end any avoid straining the cable and you won't get the fray. Also if you do get the fray its well known that Apple will replace your magsafe for free even if your out of warranty, so take it to an apple store or call apple care and get them sorted out.
