Review Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

so on thursday 17th july the wait was over for me the release of the second planet of the apes movies, while i was really looking forward to this, as i really loved the first one, i goto say i was somewhat disappointed. nothing to do with the fact with all the hype around a movie builds it up for a fall.
i try to watch each movies with a open mind to avoid disappointment.
the trailers looked awesome so it was a bit harder not to.
anyway the movie itself was VERY SLOW and 1 battle scene which wasnt great to say the least. u can feel where they are going with this series of movies it feel as if they have missed a chance to make a movie inbetween (dont wanna give anything away for u )
although very watchable id give it 7/10 but still in the cinema i felt bored and i love the movies!!!!
so i hope u enjoy it better than i did guys

I must say that I respectfully disagree. While I can see why some people may be dissapointed by it, as a fan of not just the reboot series (the current one) but also to original series(1968-1973) I actually quite enjoyed it. I thought it was very well written, intelligently thought out, and entertaining. Also, Planet of the Apes really isnt supposed to be an action movie, even though that's how they ADVERTISE them these days. Its all about social commentary, and pointing out the flaws in humanity. And this film did the best job of that since the original, I think.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I love the reboots, this wasn't up to the last one but was still very good. Agree with the comment about them missing a film in between though.

Personally I thought the 2001 Planet of the apes was Shite (which was hard for me to admit as I like Tim Burton)
Based on that should I give this or its 2011 predecessor a chance ?

I avoided both based on the 2001 remake

I went to see this at the weekend, managed to talk my son out of transformers. Really liked it, as did he, we both enjoyed the first one also and I thought this carried on the story really well. I thought the way the story moved along between both humans and apes, how they reacted and felt about each other was very good. I don't want to give away too much! I agree there isn't as much action in it as the trailers make out but it's a very good film nonetheless and well worth a watch.
