Custom made clock progress thread

Following on the success of my lamp project, I've deicded to start work early on my clock. Again this will feature bearings as the main part of the clock, with a camshaft and various flanges and fittings as the base. The clock itself will be store bought, depending on if I can find a suitable design and diameter clock.

Anywhere here is the beginning. I have decided to JB Weld these 2 shells together. I have heard good things about JB Weld (an american product) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-B_Weld

ive came up with an idea to weld together railheads of a certain design and size to make a compass rose "clock"



using something like this to make the design...



want to stick with a nautical theme..

Yeah they are scrap from the main engine from the ship I work on

The qlock is the one you're thinking of and someone on kickstarter did a rip off of it (as its like £400 for the desk version and God knows what for the wall one).

Quick google for qlock raspberry pi or arduino should get you some results. If you're also into funky looking clocks have a look at the Nixie tube ones.

Not much progress on this apart from this

Bought a used propellor from a antiques fair the other day for 25 quid. This will sit in front of the.circular bearing piece, not inside as it is slightly bigger diameter. I'll then mount the clock mechanism on this

Soaked in tomato sauce over night :-) and buffed up with brasso
