Hi guys,
New hard drive turned up today. I'm trying to decide whether I install Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word etc) or open source programs?
What do you think?

id go with the MS stuff - it is more than just apps now, its about how they all integrate
Microsoft is better IMO.
There are some good alternatives out there such as StarOffice but they are not 100% compatible and I've had problems in the past opening documents and spreadsheets that people have sent me. If you can get them, go with MS for your office suite. It's definitely the most comprehensive and well supported.

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
The Office for £9.95 through work is called the Microsoft Home User Program (Price is £8.95 currently) which is available to all employees of companies that have office with software assurance.
For anyone at University you can also apply for the Office University scheme where you can get an O365 subscription for just £59.99 for 4 years.
I'm a student but can't find it that cheap.
Does 365 work offline? Cheapest I can find it is £51.59. Which works out to £0.03... a day over four years

Heavy due to uni and the main bonus is it all syncs, can/should I really argue over £0.03 a day?

And I am pretty sure most universities have software assurance so you just need to try your ac.uk email address ;-)
