IPad 3 screen repair

Nipper's dropped it again and it's really fucked this time. Anyone on here do them before I go to the man in the phone shop and end up getting fleeced for a dodgy replacement. Need a quick turnaround for obvious reasons.
Too old and short of time/patience to attempt myself.

I tend to refer people to the apple store for a refurb swap, not a very nice job to do and the adhesive has a habit of not sticking the panel down flush all around.

It's just a smashed screen from a corner impact.

The main problem is how soft the metal shell is so on impact it often bends the outer frame inwards (causing the crack) so the next one won't be a perfect fit and may require bending the metal out again which will snap it off leaving sharp edges. I have also found in several cases that the entire shell warps so the mounting surface is not flush with the new panel. Cheap replacement panels are very poor quality and will crack again easily, genuine or OEM quality panels cost a fortune.

And that gorilla glass turns to a fine dust , if you do do it your self use a dust mask and glasses .

Upon inspection it's not a corner bang that's done this. Looks like it's had something dropped on it. That said, the opposite corner has the shell ding so the problem with that is still there. I've stuck a screen protector over it so it's usable for now until I figure something out. I think it's a goner.
I've got two no longer used iPad 1's and this broken screen iPad 3 so flogging those should raise enough funds for a replacement I'd have thought.

My brother does these repairs, i'll get a quote for you. But as evilsatan says the job is normally reliant on the case being true. I have seen my brother with a dremel grinding the corners out to get the screen to sit true, then that is covered with a tough case that protects the corners. Like i said, I'll ask my brother, If he can't do a great job he'll not quote.

It has always been in a tough case. I think if it hadn't, it wouldn't have survived as long as it did!

As its a 3, cables are less likely to get broken, it looks like just a screen needed. If cables needed obviously that's extra, but I'm informed these a only a couple of quid. Everything needed is in stock! Estimate/Quote £50 plus SD postage (£7 quid or so) he has black, white and pink screens take your pick... based on the sunny south coast. LMK. No pressure.

For those that do these there is a cracking tool for fixing i5 chassis and iPad corners and chassis called icorner not cheap for what they are but I swear by mine it paid for itself within a month when comes to i5 and 5s the iPad one will take a bit longer

Just want to say a massive thanks to ViSaGe for a number of reasons, but not least for turning this around so very quickly.
I sent it on Thursday, ViSaGe received on Friday & It's just arrived back with me on Monday and I've one very happy kid. Thanks for replacing the screen cover too mate.
Anything extra I owe you for postage pls let me know.


The screen looks OEM to me, I can't see anything any different. It looks crystal clear and spot on. Very nice repair.
As I say, the nipper is over the moon.
Recommended repairer for DF if I may!

As an aside, and after clocking another thread, I think I ought to have posted in BST with this (asking for services). And I also did mention flogging it, along with 2 x iPad 1's which might have been seen as selling outside of BST.
Apols to mods on both counts for that if inappropriate.
