Yes it can, I have done mine but don't have the details here but I am sure Google does.
Try the search "tomtom one navcore 9.170se" for a starter

Safest way is to use Tomtom home to update to the latest official navcore - you will need a bigger memory card for any of the available maps. Then use one of the tomtom tools posted in here to patch the ttsystem file, then add a suitable map & use the tool to activate the map.

so if I upgrade to latest sofware, will the current maps installed still work until I get a larger card and patch the system?
many thanks
I'm not too sure if it will still work with the v6 maps sorry.
Just tried a google search for -
tomtom v605 maps & v7.903 navcore
and it seems that it should work.

Just remembered - you might have to get an older memory card - not too sure if the SDHC card will work in an old unit - might have to get a SD card. It is possible that a SDHC card will work after the navcore & bootloader (yours is 4.31) has been updated, but only one way to find out and that is to try it. If it does not work you will know the reason why and what to do about it.
