They had agreed to extending the series but pay was a sticking point it seems
Not a bad salary it has to be said but it's made me happy..

Big Bang Theory is one of my favourite shows, but $1m per episode is ludicrous money.
It's not really when you think about how much the network will make out of the show. Adverts, selling to overseas and DVD sales will far exceed the $168mil they would have to pay for the 7 main stars over 24 episodes.
What if Sheldon/Penny/Leonard wanted $10mil, what would they do, replace them? The only other thing they would do is cancel the show and they wouldn't want to give up their cash cow. They have the producers by the short and curlies.
That is fucking crazy.
Yes I remember the same outcry when the friends cast won an increase
to $300,000 per episode that was an hour show I believe but Big Bang is half of that
Mind you, what do world class footballers get?

By the last series of Friends they were on $1 million per episode which is what the 3 main Big Bang actors are now on but for a a show half the length of Friends per episode. The last series of Friends actually cost more to make than they got back on initial ad revenue but as it's repeated across the planet so frequently the syndication payments mean the producers still make a killing.
The Big Bang cast have rather unsurprisingly had increased share of syndication rights included in the new contracts.
I must be one of the few that don't find this funny ? Any show that uses canned laughter to tell me when it's supposed to be funny crap .. It's just a modern day friends that was crap as well

I do like the actual Science jokes they do throw in - apparently they do have a couple of scientist on board to verify what they are saying is factual, still it is just a throw away series so being paid more then anybody else does seem a little excessive.
Friends and Big Bang Theory are both half hour shows.
