Review DAILY ROUND- UP For 5/8/2014

For those who are intrested in horse racing im going to keep you informed about what is going on in the world of horse racing, im going to start producing a round-up of the results every day from Monday to Friday. So with that in mind i will start with tuesdays meetings which were Ffos Las,catterick, and in ireland there was meeting from cork

William Twiston-Davies stole the show on Tuesday as he landed a 155/1 double on a seven race card at Ffos Las. He teamed up with trainer John Spearing for the first leg in the Brand New 32Red Sport.com Handicap as he partnered Gracie’s Games to an impressive three and a quarter length success. The double was completed just over an hour later as he rode Golden Jubilee to victory in the Barry Walters Catering Handicap for father Nigel.

Another rising star of the weighing room Oisin Murphy continues to go from strength to strength and he showed all of his ability with 16/1 double of his own. Having ridden Si Senor to a resounding success in the Follow @BetVictorRacing On Twitter Handicap at Kempton, he soon followed up in the Download The BetVictor Instabet App Median Auction Maiden Stakes aboard Elbereth for his boss Andrew Balding.

Elswhere, trainer Mark Johnston continued his fine form with victory in Catterick’s feature contest, the Betfred Exclusive Competitions On Facebook Handicap. The Joe Fanning-ridden Special Fighter won impressively on his latest start at Beverley and despite stepping up in trip he was similarly dominant here. He ran on strongly close home to win with three and a half lengths to spare.

Ripon’s feature contest was the David Chapman Memorial Handicap run over five furlongs and it went the way of the Paul Midgley-trained Silvanus. The nine-year-old led entering the final furlong and kept finding for Paul Mulrennan as he held off his pursuers by a head at the line.

There was also plenty of action across the Irish Sea with most eyes on the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt General Marshall in the first race at Cork. This colt was purchased for 1.15 million Guineas at the Breeze Up Sales in April but could only finish third under Joseph O’Brien. It is quite possible that he will prefer quicker ground than he encountered yesterday and could be worth watching out for next time.

That race was the first part of a good card at Cork which included a Listed and Group 3 contest. The Listed race over a mile went the way of Ger Lyons’ Brendan Bracken with the five-year-old making all under Colin Keane to land the spoils. The potent combination of Pat Smullen and Dermot Weld also got themselves on the score sheet as Edelmira landed the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Give Thanks Stakes. This was the filly’s second win in three starts and she also looks like one for the notebook.

    Daily round up for 6/8/2014

Jockey Richard Hughes kept his hopes of retaining the Champion Jockey’s crown with a magnificent 94/1 four-timer at Brighton.

He was in fantastic form at the Sussex venue, notching victories in the first three races on the card. His four-timer was completed in the Maison Maurice Handicap as Sir Tyto got his head in front for trainer Peter Makin. The six-year-old made all under Hughes, quickening up well close home to get the verdict by two and a half lengths.

Brighton’s feature race of the day was the John Smith’s Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy and it went the way of the Andrew Balding-trained Mime Dance. The three-year-old was delivered late by Oisin Murphy and got up to win by half a length.

Adam Kirby also found himself in the Winner’s Enclosure on several occasions yesterday with an across the card 134/1 treble. Having ridden Story Writer to success in the winner.co.uk horseracing Handicap at Lingfield, Kirby headed to Kempton for a few rides in the evening. He was onboard Masterpaver as the three-year-old landed the Betdaq 3% Commission Handicap before completing his hat-trick aboard Unforgiving Minute in the HBAA Who Cares Wins Maiden Stakes.

Pontefract also hosted a seven race card with their main highlight, the tiesplanet.com – Ladies Love Guys In Ties Handicap which went the way of Sir Michael Stoute’s progressive three-year-old Rocket Ship. Joe Fanning made all on the gelding and having asked him to kick on with two furlongs to run, he ran on well to win with four lengths to spare.

Finally, at Yarmouth Robert Cowell followed on from his Steward’s Cup win with Intrinsic as Indian Tinker took the spoils in the Banham Poultry Handicap. The five-year-old was patiently ridden but came home strongly for Liam Jones to win by one and a quarter lengths

The star of yesterday’s action was undoubtedly Danny Brock as the 5lb claimer recorded a 47/1 double at Yarmouth.

His first success came courtesy of Honiton Lace as the three-year-old made all in the Follow Us On Twitter At Great Yarmouth Racecourse Selling Handicap. The 5/1 shot ran on well in the closing stages to win by one and a quarter lengths. He once again showed his ability from the front for the second leg as Nifty Kier battled gamely for his jockey to land the Conferences At Great Yarmouth Racecourse Handicap. The five-year-old really stuck his neck out close home and held on to get the verdict by a neck.

Another rising star in the weighing room is Sam James and he continued his fine form with a 21/1 double up at Newcastle. Having ridden Supreme Occasion to success in the Nursery for David O’Meara, James teamed up with the Newmarket yard of Noel Quinlan to land the Northumbrian Water Median Auction Maiden Stakes aboard Park Glen. The filly finished her race off well and was half a length clear as she crossed the line.

There were also multiple successes on the card for both William Buick and Andrew Mullen at Sandown and Southwell respectively. Perhaps the most talented of the four winners was Snoano who took Sandown’s British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes in fine style. The colt holds an entry in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes later in the year and looks an interesting prospect for the yard.

Brighton’s August Festival continued to draw in the crowds with the feature race, the frosts4cars.co.uk Brighton Challenge Cup going the way of Lady Herries’ Barwick. The six-year-old ran on well under pressure in the closing stages and got up to give jockey Cam Hardie another winner in his breakthrough season.

Haydock Park also hosted a seven race card with Les Eyre’s Compton Park following up on his Pontefract success with victory in the Zip Goes A Million Handicap. The seven-year-old once again gave the impression that there is more to come from him and he could be starting to fulfil the regard in which his trainer has held him in.
