    Default Office communicator 2007

i have a problem! I have downloaded Office communicator 2007 and installed it on 2 machines on my home network - the aim being that a user can send IM's to each other - that's it!

However, the prog prompts for a sign in address yet there is nowhere to register an address. Is this purely for business or can you use it for home?

You will also need to install the OC Server software as this works in a similar manner to outlook with exchange.

If you do have a server, Lync 2013 might be a better option.

ICQ? Facebook? Skype? Yahoo IM? There is loads! Forget Microshits attempts... it's why they bought Skype out!

Lync is so must better than Skype!

I use both and the quality of the video calls in Lync is much higher, they are products aimed at two different markets (Skype for consumers and Lync for business)

Why the Microsoft hate anyway, maybe you like there stuff and maybe you don't but you can knock what they have done for the IT industry over the years. Some people prefer the free office type applications and that's fine with me, some prefer Linux or OSX and that's OK with me too. I openly admit I prefer Microsoft products but just because of that doesn't mean I go round dising anything that is not Microsoft.

    Anyway rant over lol.
