Question Acronis True Image 2014 vs Rsync

    Hi Guys,

I have almost got my computer exactly how I want it, so, now is the time to think about automating backups using either Acronis True Image 2014 or Rsync. Which would you choose and why?

Backups will run daily. I want the option to run incremental backups. Or is this not advisable?

Anyone care to share pros/cons of each and what lead to the choice?

    1 vote for rsync here.

This will let you maintain two totally seperate but identical (at time of backup) copies of the same data.

Acronis will let you image a drive, then take loads of incremental snapshots, then let you restore to them.

If you are dealing with a lot of data as I believe you are, rsync is normally the way forward because it will only send the differences between your source and target copy, then the machine at the target end sorts the rest out.

I'm with Over carl here - rsync all the way for me - is also encrypted from source to target.

I like rsync, I use this to back up to Synology/readynas. I use deltacopy as the client software.
