LED strip lighting failing in patches

We have this stuff in the ceiling and after about 6 months a couple patches of it seem to have either failed or are just very dim. As far as I can see its all one long piece so there's nowhere for the cowboys who fitted it to have fucked up. I'm guessing the inverter thing could just be inadequate or fucked. Amirite?

Its about an 18 metre run, for a quick guess.

Think they are supplied in rolls of 5 and 10 metres, there maybe connector in there somewhere

Hard to fault find LEDs. Usually it's due to bad heat dissipation or slight dampness rising.
LEDs should last for a long time, but they are not immune to failure.

Luckily, it should be really simple and reasonably cheap to replace.

I'm about to get a 20m RGB Strip for my Living Room. Should be great for parties, especially as it will also be sound sensitive.

Is it right that LED's have a 25 year guarantee?

i believe we paid for a 20 metre run, but I never saw the roll before it was fitted so there is a chance they gave us off cuts taped together, I will check that later.

So my best option if I cant see a break in the tube is to just replace the whole shebang?

Looks to me like you got the cheap Chinese knock off stuff ;-)
