There is an apple in the pond, blown off the tree by the strong winds last night, and this afternoon, the globular springtails have set about having a bit of a party on it. These springtails are 1mm or so in size, smaller than the full stop on your computer keyboard. They are the aquatic globular springtails, Collumbola Sminthuridae.
