Advice eurocarparts - non returnable if bag is opened

    Hi
I ordered a abs sensor from eurocarparts through click and collect. I typed in my reg and clicked on a cheap one as I needed it quick.
It had the label "non-returnable if bag is opened" on.
Of course I opened it before I took the old sensor off. Now the new sensor doesn't fit I need to return it.
Surely they are in the wrong as I typed in my reg and it came up in the search results therefore they have to refund me?

As long as their system of selection was in error, sounds like they should have to accept it as a return because it's not fit for purpose imo.

Can you get screen shots showing the result for your reg?

Was it a trade sale or retail?

I've found Euro Car Parts to be of exceptional service in the past. Give their Return Authorisations a call on 0203 4740500, explain the situation and I'm sure all will come good.

Googling the problem already gives this thread as the top search result, so they will take have taken notice.
You are well within your right to return it if it's not fit for purpose - or an incorrect part.

As well as the above, I'm guessing they have entered into a contract to supply you a part for that vehicle which they have breached by failing to actually do so.

Stupid one I had the other week - programming a new steering lock to a Merc and the customer gave me the new lock and special programming key which is returned to Merc after the job is finished to get the deposit back. Guy told me he was informed he only gets the deposit back if the key was returned in it's original packaging.

The only packaging was a regular resealable plastic bag. (I reclosed it with the original staple put back through the original staple holes just to make sure).

2 Thanks given to Over Carl

Yeah they give great discounts over at the Rover User Group, usually been pretty good all round...

PS, they seem to have joined the forum, welcome chaps!

The return in unopened bag is only for items fit for purpose and they are being nice allowing people to return stuff they realise they don't need after the purchase.

If its the wrong part which they supplied, then your rights are unaffected whatever the sticker says. Contact them for an exchange.

Check out the distance selling regulations if they get funny with you, they were beefed up especially to protect people buying off the internet.

It's why I asked this question

If it's trade they will simply reply by saying by saying it was not a consumer sale and therefore not covered by DSR/CCR, this of course is not refering to the fact it may have been an incorrectly supplied part.

I had a similar thing the other day. I put my reg into their site, as wanted to get some wiper blades.

picked and ordered a set online and went to pick em up. When I went to fit them they didn't fit, so I returned them.

Bloke behind counter checked my reg again and got the wrong wipers too so he agreed to give me a refund. Plus gave me an alternative set with a fiver off for my trouble.

So, I agree they have been fine with me

    It was a retail sale.
I don't have screenshots but my car make and model is on the click and collect receipt. I'm going to take it back tomorrow so let you all know how I get on!

Well I took it back along with the one I took off my car so they could see the visual differences. They exchanged it and I got one that was an exact match for the old one but I had to pay £10 more. Still £25 cheaper than buying from the dealership though. Thanks for the replies!
