Default After a bit of advice for a friend.

I'm a bit out of touch on repair costs etc. but a friend is asking:

"I'm just wondering if to change a Cam Belt I need to have the whole water filter etc. changed with it? I've been quoted £280 for my Picasso
    "

She thinks it could be a bit steep? And does the water filter things need changing as well?

Think the water filter replacement would require a cambelt replacement so they usually recommend doing it at the same time.

Water filter?? I thought it was the Water Pump and Cam Belt that is recommended to be changed at the same time?

Cheers guys, does the price seem average for that sort of job? Like I say, I haven't a clue myself these days.

Depends of petrol/diesel, but sounds somewhere near ish, lets have a guess.

    roughly working on averages
    timing belt kit 80.00
    water pump 25.00
    lab 3 hours 117.00
    anti freeze/coolant 12.00
    +vodka and tonic 46.80

    total 280.80
