Question Does anyone have a newish Ford Fiesta or Focus ?

Just wondering about the audio system in the current models....it has a USB port, but I cant seem to find anything about it...

Basically what I need to know is, can you stick a load of mp3 files on a usb pendrive, stick it in this port, and the car stereo see them and play them ?
Or is the port there just for charging, or controlling an ipod or something ?

Yes, the other half has a focus - 13 plate. The USB port is in the central console just behind the handbrake. Put a usb pen drive in there and it's accessible via the audio console.

    Plays the MP3s fine.

Yes I had a new Fiesa eco boost the other other week. Was nice to drive too though a little pricy.

Watchout how you encode your mp3s. Only around half of the files on the pen drive were displayed on the console. In particular those mp3s I'd ripped from youtube via a web site tool did not play by played fine on my phone and pc. Something to do with the encoding for sure.

Thanks guys, exactly what I wanted to hear.
I want to do away with discs and just have my stuff on a few pendrives.
Looking at either a Fiesta Titanium Navigator X or a Focus as there are some deals to be had at the moment due to the imminent arrival of the facelift model.
Dundo money burning a hole in my pocket and I havent even got it yet.

    Thanks to tronads

I've had one or two play from YouTube encodes (I use the DVDVideoSoft software) but yeah I'd rip them at as high a bitrate as possible from CD.

Re. Fords, I'm very tempted on the Mondeo Titanium X Business ed. 2.2L Diesel. Means giving up my Leon Cupra. Mind you, the Mondeo is 200Bhp so only a drop of 40Bhp. A little heavier so 0-60 time is less but to be honest, It's about getting a much better MPG but without losing too much power.

Plus I could drive over a flat credit card on the floor and you'd feel it through the entire car such is the stiffness of the suspension on the Cupra. Think I'm wanting something a little softer and comfortable now.

I remember reading they can be retrofitted if the car doesn't have one, but the price of the part from Ford is ridiculous (£150-200 off the top of my head) and cars with them are too new to be easily found in scrapyards.

Also I believe even if the part is retrofitted, the car needs to be coded to be aware this has been done and this needs to be done with the Ford dealer's computer (most non Ford dealers would not be able to program it).

I had a Focus 2l TDCI on hire through work and it drove an iPhone 5 properly with the steering wheel controls. Was surprised by how well it drove as well. No idea on USB though.

Oh and I am out at end of October too!!

I have the 2013 fiesta titanium and as has been said previously the USB work fine for mp3s. I have a 500MB drive wired into mine in the centre armrest with my full music collection on it. Also as well as the USB you can stream from your phone to the stereo over Bluetooth which is handy.

Just to add too, the Fiesta is a cracking little car anyway. I got the 1.5 TDCI Titanium and I've had it about a year now.
I did a load of research and test drove everything before buying it and for my money it's the best car in it's size/class.
The handling is fantastic, and for a small car it feels big inside although there's not much room behind my seat. The interior is really good, it's comfy over long journeys. All in all I love it, if I had any criticism it's that the 1.5 diesel isn't that nippy but I knew that anyway. I bought it for economy over speed due to the mileage I do now. The car tax is free, and I regularly get over 60mpg - best mpg so far was just short of 70mpg on a run to Gateshead and back.
If I was buying again it would be another Fiesta for sure, or if I wanted something a bit bigger it would be the Focus.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

    Thanks to funkyg

Yeah, the Fiesta constantly wins best in class in all the magazines, it really is a superb vehicle for someone in the market for that category. No wonder it's such a good seller for Ford. I have been really pleased with my 1.6 Diesel Sport Mazda 2, but the reports on the forthcoming 2015 model aren't inspiring me. I just fancy a change when it hits 3 years old. its the 125bhp 1.0 Ecotec engine I will be looking at.
