    Help Car Bluetooth query

    Hi
On my car I have an issue with the bluetooth on the unit, i'm using it with an iphone 5, if the telephone number is stored with +44 and someone calls it only shows the number and not the name, if the number is stored with 0 at the beginning it shows the name and number.

the car has been back to the manufacturer and they've done a couple of software updates but it hasnt resolved anything.

Is this the same generally with incar bluetooth systems?

    Thanks for any advice

It will be down to the particular bluetooth module and it's software. I have a custom Zenec headunit in my car with integrated Parrot module and I don't recall experiencing this kind of issue. It is down to how the software interprets numbers, you would have thought a firmware update would resolve this for you.

So fustrating, you would think a bluetooth knowing international formats is just a bloody standard nowadays.

Does it make any difference putting a space between the +44 and the rest of the number?

    Thanks to flipper321

Why don't you edit the numbers in your phone and remove the +44 and add a 0

Am fairly sure the unit in the new Ford Kuga does the same mate - noticed if I get a text or an incoming call it displays +4477771112222 and other times will say Joe Bloggs.

    Thanks to Scal

I have done that with some numbers, just didnt fancy doing it with all of them as when I'm away I'll have to start changing back again.

I found with mine that if I used the phone to manually send the contact then it would work. If the contact had been sent to the phone as part of the phone book transfer then it wouldn't always work.

try turning on dial assist on/off on the phone (settings, phone, dial assist) try both ways once connected, you canalso make sure the car kit isnt looking at its own memory and phone memory at same time, not used the lexus unit but it may be looking at both areas causing the CLI issue

finally check on the manufacturers site for which version software on the iphone 5 is certified working, try and get hold of phone on that version if possible

back in the day for nokia and samsung it was easy to downgrade a phone to a working software version but apple is fussy, Sometimes it can just be the headunit until they certify certain software versions

    Thanks to Mobileman

Maltloaf it does give the option to update manually, it re syncs whenever the car is turned on.
Mobileman that sounded quiet promising so just checked it but made no difference, it's not just an iphone issue though because I synced it with my windows phone and it's the same damn issue.
