Tech AV receiver advice and atv2.

    hi guys

Looking for a bit of guidance please.
I currently have an N54L streaming via ethernet to my atv2, this is then connected to my Toshiba 40" tv by hdmi.

I want to buy an av receiver so i can get decent sound but can't work out how this would work with my set up. The atv has optical audio out.

How would i get 5.1 from my NAS through the atv via the av receiver? Is it as simple as putting the hdmi from atv to the amp and then from the amp to the TV?

    Thanks

    MML

Are you already getting audio from your tv?

    Yes via hdmi.

I think i'm just being dumb. I guess i would connect hdmi from atv2 into av receiver and then run hdmi from av receiver to tv.

You'd simply plug the Apple TV into the Amp via hdmi and then hdmi out to the TV. Youll plug all your hdmi devices into the amp and only have one hdmi into the tv from the amp.

    Cheers Livesy.
I was initially getting confused by reading old threads on forums talking about toslinks etc. but you've confirmed what i was thinking.
