Upgrading my Revos HDD to SSD on the cheap (hopefully)

Doesn't need to be anything big or flash, it only has the Home Theatre software (Plex or XBMC) and the cache images files on it, so I figure 32GB should be plenty - could probably even stoop to 8GB TBH.
Currently using a HDD, but some places suggesting booting from a Live USB is quicker... but I want to forget messing about and go SSD.

cache drives are for making an existing set up quicker like an ssd setup.

lets say you have a pc with a 1tb drive in it and are using half the room, your option is to shell out a shed load for at least a 500gb ssd, ouch.

but there is the cache drive way, just stick in a cache drive to a spare sata port, put on the software and the drive will slowly over time cache all your used programs and start ups so your system will eventually act like its running on an ssd drive.

Ebuyer had Intel SSDs for £20 recently. I put a OCZ vertex or agility 3 in my revo a couple of years ago and dual boot win 7 and xbmcbuntu. I even considered an mSATA SSD as I don't use wireless but wasn't sure if it'd work or if it was as fast as the SATA interface.

I like the idea of this. 40gb drive should be fine for running plex on. Id like to update mine from a really old win 7 install that im not convinced hasnt had a virus or two in the past. With only 2gb of ram i think it would struggle with Win 8.1

Those Intel drives seem ok and I would probably have gone for it, but those read/write speed seems a bit slow to me for an SSD.
I've looked into those mSATA drives and found one that has an immense speed for the price...

Needs an adapter to work though, the mini-PCIe where the Wireless device goes although is similar is different apparently.

I'm quite sure my internal SATA HDD writes faster than 45MB/s - which would make sense why others are saying they so no real difference.
