David Haines's 'evil murder' condemned by PM

The murder of David Haines was an "act of pure evil", David Cameron has said after the release of a video appearing to show the UK hostage's beheading.

The 44-year-old aid worker was seized in Syria in 2013. He was being held by Islamic State militants who have already killed two US captives.
The latest video also includes a threat to kill a second British hostage.
The PM vowed to do everything possible to find the killers. Mr Haines's family said he would be "missed terribly".
Born in Holderness, East Yorkshire, Mr Haines went to school in Perth and had been living in Croatia with his second wife, who is Croatian, and their four-year-old daughter. His parents live in Ayr.

    'Despicable and appalling'

In a statement released by the Foreign Office, Mike Haines said his brother, a father of two, "was and is loved by all his family".
"David was most alive and enthusiastic in his humanitarian roles. His joy and anticipation for the work he went to do in Syria is for myself and family the most important element of this whole sad affair," he said.

Downing Street said the prime minister had returned to No 10 following the release of the video

Mr Cameron, who is due to chair an emergency Cobra committee meeting later, said the murder of an innocent aid worker was "despicable and appalling".
"It is an act of pure evil. My heart goes out to the family of David Haines who have shown extraordinary courage and fortitude throughout this ordeal.
"We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes," the prime minister added.

    'Grief and resolve'

The Foreign Office is working to verify the video, which was released on Saturday night. It begins with a clip of Mr Cameron and then features a man who appears to be Mr Haines dressed in orange overalls, kneeling in front of a masked man holding a knife.
The victim says: "My name is David Cawthorne Haines. I would like to declare that I hold you, David Cameron, entirely responsible for my execut1on."
He says Mr Cameron had entered into a coalition with the US against the Islamic State "just as your predecessor Tony Blair did".
"Unfortunately it is we the British public that in the end will pay the price for our parliament's selfish decisions," he said.
The militant, who appears to have a British accent, is then recorded as saying: "This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron, to arm the Peshmerga against the Islamic State."

In the video a masked militant is seen standing beside a man who appears to be David Haines

Islamic State is now in control of large parts of northern Iraq and Syria, and the CIA estimates that the group could have as many as 30,000 fighters in the region.
The UK has donated heavy machine guns and ammunition to authorities in Iraq to help fight IS militants, the Ministry of Defence has previously said.
Kurdish forces, known as the Peshmerga, have been involved in heavy fighting with IS.

    International condemnation

US President Barack Obama said: "Our hearts go out to the family of Mr Haines and to the people of the United Kingdom."
In a statement, he said the US would work with the UK and a "broad coalition of nations" to "bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice".
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said Mr Haines's murder was "further demonstration that this particular terrorist group does not just do evil, but exults in doing evil".
The French presidency said: "The heinous murder of David Haines shows once again how the international community must mobilise against [IS]."
Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond said the release of the video "demonstrated a degree of brutality which defies description".
"It should be remembered that Mr Haines was in the region as an aid worker helping local people," Mr Salmond added.
And he told the BBC's Andrew Marr programme that Mr Haines's death was "an act of unspeakable barbarism".
He also said a resilience meeting - the Scottish government's version of the UK's Cobra security meeting - would be held on Sunday morning to discuss issues such as the privacy of Mr Haines's family.
The leader of the Better Together campaign in Scotland, Alistair Darling, told the same programme that "David Haines was trying to help people in dreadful conditions".
His death was "inexcusable, a barbaric act" that would "strengthen the resolve of the international community," Mr Darling added.

I fully support a petition by British Muslims to have this Lunatic Group re-labelled as Un-Islamic State

Leading Muslims: we should call these terrorists the Un-Islamic State

    Sunday 14 September 2014

Politicians and the media should stop referring to the extremist group controlling parts of Syria and Iraq as "Islamic State" in a bid to discourage Britons from joining them, leading Muslims have warned.

A group of prominent civic and religious figures have written to Prime Minister David Cameron urging him to "refuse to legitimise" the terror group by switching to an alternative such as "Un-Islamic State".
The policy would help address the "falsehood" that joining the jihad was acceptable in the eyes of the faith, they told him, and show the vast majority of British Muslims did not support it, they argued.
Security services believe at least 500 Britons have travelled to the region to fight and the potential return of radicalised jihadis to Britain's shores was behind the recent the decision to raise the UK's terror threat level.
The letter has been signed by the presidents of the Islamic Society of Britain and the Association of Muslim Lawyers - as well as several imams and representatives of other groups.
It welcomed an "every growing chorus of rejection" by British Muslims of the group and its actions - including the execut1ons of two US journalists and the threatened killing of a UK hostage.
But it said more could be done and called on Mr Cameron to help by changing the way it is referred to.
"We do not believe the terror group responsible should be given the credence and standing they seek by styling themselves 'Islamic State'," they wrote.
"It is neither Islamic, nor is it a State. The group has no standing with faithful Muslims, nor among the international community of nations.
"It clearly will never accept the obligations that any legitimate state has, including the responsibility to protect citizens and uphold human rights.
"So we believe the media, civic society and governments should refuse to legitimise these ludicrous Caliphate fantasies by accepting or propagating this name.
We propose that 'Un-Islamic State' (UIS) could be an accurate and fair alternative name to describe this group and its agenda - and we will begin to call it that."
It appealed for a "consensus on an alternative label" as part of the debate over how to tackle the threat.
"We believe that it would send a powerful message in Britain and around the world if you would join us, as our Prime Minister, in leading a national debate to seek a suitable alternative way to refer to this group and further challenge its legitimacy and influence.
"This could be especially powerful because everybody at home and abroad can see that you are being asked to do so by British Muslims themselves who want to be clear about why this group is so vehemently rejected.
"We are sure that most British Muslims would agree that 'Un-Islamic State' is a considerably more fitting label for this poisonous group - and hope that our fellow citizens will join us in that."
Sughra Ahmed, president of the Islamic Society of Britain, told The Observer: "These extremists aren't us. This isn't the Islam that we recognise.
"But we need to do more than just say 'not in our name, not for our faith'. We need to work together and make sure that these fanatics don't get the propaganda that they feed off.
"This isn't going to fix the problem of some young people in our community being radicalised by extremists. There's more we need to do, together, to tackle that.
"But confronting this falsehood, that it's somehow 'Islamic' to go off to Iraq or Syria and murder people, is a step in the right direction."

The signatories to the letter are:
Sughra Ahmed, Islamic Society of Britain
Dilwar Hussain, New Horizons in British Islam
Rabiha Hannan, New Horizons in British Islam

I wonder if they will be in London on October 18th ?

    https://www.facebook.com/marchforuk

We will peacefully march through London on the 18th October, the march will consist of veterans and proud UK citizens marching side by side. The march will end outside number 10 Downing street, where John Loveday (March organiser) will personally hand over a petition signed by our countries people asking our government to counter Islamic extremism in Britain and on our streets.

In this petition we ask that:

The government introduce new laws that stop extremists trying to radicalise others

Any organisation or group believed to be inciting terrorism should be banned not only from conducting such acts but banned from the UK as a whole

Laws should be brought in with immediate effect to tackle British extremists, if this does not happen then the struggle against terror will surely last for decades

That there be immediate changes to the law that means naturalised Britons who are fighting overseas can and will be stripped of their citizenship and excluded from the UK

Anyone flying ISIS flags or the insignia of any extremist group will be arrested immediately

Those countries which do best in the world – are the ones that are safe and prosperous - have a coherent sense of their own culture. We need to get that back. We look to install hope and faith back into the people of the UK that there is still veterans and others alike that are willing to stand up when needed for this country.

When we march on the 18th October in London, we will do so peacefully, we are in no way associated or will not condone the right or left wing groups to be a part of this march. This is a neutral group and is filled with proud veterans and country men and women, all of which want a peaceful and professional march. We will turn away any members of groups such as BF, EDL etc. We hope you can make the march if not please sign the petition and thank you for your support.

Germany Bans ISIS Activities: Black Flag, Social-Media Support a Crime

MAINZ, Germany - Germany banned images and activities linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham on Friday, including social media support and display of the militant group's signature black flag. Germany's Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said that ignoring the ban - which also covers participating in demonstrations or supporting the group financially - "is a crime with immediate effect." He called the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham - which has waged a bloody campaign through Iraq and Syria - a threat to Germany. “Today, we are decisively acting against this threat,” he said.
Violators of the ban could face jail time, Germany's Justice Ministry said. ISIS has used glossy propaganda videos and social media to attract recruits. Officials in Germany welcomed Friday's move but urged more measures to halt extremists' activities. An estimated 400 Germans have traveled to Syria and Iraq to fight with ISIS, sparking fears jihadists could return home and carry out terror attacks. German law also prohibits the use or depiction of swastikas.

I don't know if they have fully thought their idea through. We would have to deport our parliament and military.
