    Advice Lenovo - Which one?

    Hi Guys,

I'm in need of a laptop for university as soon as possible. It needs to be slim, light and powerful enough to run adobe cc products, run code and general tasks that are standard for most users.

    What would you suggest?

    yoga 2.

i5 version in 11 inch is really smart and feels like a sturdy, though very light, laptop even though its kind of convertable. I will say its a little big to be used comfortably as a tablet, but maybe you have frying pan hands that can deal with that kind of thing.

The 13 inch version feels more like a big ol' laptop which is why the 11 inch might be a bit nicer for lectures, but it's still a lovely model.

I love the T series, I had a T410 and now have a T430. Just got a T440s in for a client and it's much thinner and lighter than my T430. Cost a bit of money but have 3 years warranty and built to last.

I have the Y510P and use it as my main computer now, not to sure how about the light and slim part but its's certainly powerful enough to run games on top settings.

I've got an x220 i5. Great machine, runs everything I throw at it.

The X1 and the T440 what are their average cost new/second hand? Some stuff on eBay second hand costs more than the brand new price!

The T440 has a CD drive so it is thicker and heavier, the T440s is designed to be thin and light so there is no disc drive. I think the T440p is for those who require high powered graphics.

I have the T430 but next time round I think I would opt for the s model and have an external disc drive in my car as I have a iODD portable HDD with disc emulator for most of my disc images.

That was the case when I got mine so I went for the T430 but I have the i7 model, it's just a bit heavy but no bother to me and I carry it around all day.

If you want a modern Lenovo I would strong advise trying it out in person before buying. It seems like they have been fitting useless faulty trackpads to a lot of models and not offering any fix for this issue.

Not faulty, just shit designs. The new models have way too much play in the spring and the previous gen had dimples on the trackpad which numbed the tip of your finger after 10 mins use.

The few I used had trackpads that would incorrectly register touchches. Noone is paying me to investigate so I won't waste my time, but I stand by my statement. If a touchpad doesn't work properly it is faulty. If a laptop is fitted with an unusable touchpad it is correct to deem the device as faulty, no matter how great the rest may be.

Trackpads are flaky in my experience. Had a T400 and T410 and the trackpads worn out on both. They are tough machines though. I'm always dropping mine and not broken anything other than the space bar(!!!)
