The walls in our bungalow are thick and block the wifi signal.
if I move the router or stick a repeater in the loft would that work better?

at the minute I have a repeater in every room and even they disconnect.

how old is bungalow mate? had similar problem with my mates wifi recently, turned out it was the kingspan insulation in the extension where his router was, moved it and been 110% better

It's old mate I have moved the router into the living room the kitchen, and it currently lives in the hallway in the centre of the bedrooms.
Bloody solid concrete walls can't drill into the fucking things without having to change the drill bit three times.

I live in a old 3 storey stone terraced with thick walls and have had similar issues, what worked for me was to buy a couple of dlink dir 615's off fleabay flash them with dd-wrt and set them up as repeater/extenders, I have one on each floor which seems to cover most the house....

The only place I could put my router was in the conservatory, which meant half the signal was in the garden.
Wifi in the bedrooms was shit.
SoI ran an ethernet from the conservatory, behind the kitchen units and into the lounge.
Connected a Buffalo Nfinity access point to it.
Works flawlessly, plus gives me 4 more ethernet ports if I need to hardwire in.

I've just changed my router from the BT homehub (because it was shit) to an old Belkin I had knocking about and the access point didn't miss a beat.
I can also access my main PC,connected to the Belkin, via the access point for streaming stuff from my external HD with no problem. Even the printer works.

Now In terms of I.T. I'm pretty dyslexic, but this worked for me for less than £30 mate.

Have you tried homeplugs?

I connect several routers (with DHCP turned off etc) via homeplugs to the central router and use those to extend wifi - no need for flashy firmware that way either!

Solwise have a really good range of homeplugs, I have used most brands but solwise were the first to allow me to stream 1080p mkv to my tv without stutter. They also have homeplugs with WAPs built in so you can have neat hotspots in any room without wires.

I have net plugs it have 5 in total but it's another issue with sockets there is only one socket in each room!!!

im im going to try the wifi in the loft to see if that helps as for cat5 cable I have that running through the loft already to the server in the garage. And then back to the bedroom for the skybox f5s.

If you can't run cables then look at the solwise piggy models which have pass through plugs, none of these have wifi built in but you can add Dd-wrt WAPs via ethernet for hotspots and it will add a 10/100 switch to each room.

I live in bungalow as well 20 ft to living room and shite signal .. My mrs phones to complain about her wifi in her house streight away upgrade to super hub 2 £10 credit and upgrade from 30-50 meg.. After hour prising about on phone in mine told I would have to buy it for £50 ... Totally different custermer service on same day ?? Virgin suck some times

We are with orange fibre as sky tried to charge me £50 to replace a dead router.
i told them I have a load of routers doing nothing so I just need my log in details for the adsl side.

i was informed it's all stored in the router and now way to get broadband unless I pay the £50.
so I told them to get fucked (actual words) and told them to disconnect my TV and broadband.
i had been a customer of sky for over 15 years and the customer service was shit.

after slagging them off on twitter I had an email saying I could disconnect for free and keep my TV free for 6 months.
so I kept the TV and switched to orange fibre.

Now no matter what router I use the signal throughout the bungalow is bollocks
I have an extra sky router and a spare orange brightbox 2 along with a belkin n600 and various other linksys and netgear routers.
i have three repeaters one sky repeater and two dlink ones from eBay but they drop signal constantly.
im gonna try the loft method and report back if it works then fucking yeah otherwise bollocks.

Repeaters work differently to the WAP method I mentioned, repeaters rely on a wireless link between boxes, my method effectively has a wired link between WAPs as long as your mains support homeplugs. It's a very good solution.
