Re-using an old mini itx NAS for a VPN router. Is it possible?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to reuse an old mini itx NAS box and convert for use as VPN router. Is it possible?

I don't see why not?
i use xpenology on my hp54 and my parents use the VPN I have setup on that to access uk TV from Portugal.
i use my iphone on VPN when out and about too using my VPN.

It's built in to xpenology it's just a simple synology VPN.

I would suggest before you actually properly set it up, do a little test on the bench.

If it works fine at least you know it's not bottlenecking if you have problems later, if you do have problems on the bench, you could consider testing different encryption algorithms to see if this gets it to where you need it.
