I am looking for a camera or 2 for the house to record whats going on in the back garden and keep an eye on the cars at the front.

I don't really want to run cables all over the house so wireless preferred, also I don't really want to make holes in walls and mount them outside so internal pointing out of windows would be best I don't have a ladder any more to climb up the side of the house.

Any suggestions on cameras, I would be recording to a windows PC so software solutions as well would be good, motion detection or 24/7 recording I'm not too bothered as its a pretty busy street and with motion detection would probably record most of the time anyway.

how about a POE camera with a POE switch?
I use a wireless foscam which are pretty good

ive got two cameras bullet style and one turret style that will blow most £300 cameras out the water they retail over £100 each for the UK version, i bought out of china via aliexpress and they flashed them with the UK software and cost me £55 each far superior to foscam or any other stuff at same price, built in web software is great and can set motion detection or they have a dedicated pcdvr software but i have chosen blueiris as was a little easier to use. I have used the server pcdvr and proably could get it to work but blueiris was just a little easier

mine are connected to n54l runing 2012e at moment but might change that to 7 as just cant get along with it

only thing to bear in mind is HD space need if wanting to use the full resolution of 2048 × 1536 !!

connected to gigabit switch (£30) via POE to the n54l

View yes, setup yes, control yes if you had a Ptz camera (mine isn't a Ptz) will put the calc up on here in morn that gives you options for no of cameras and resolution etc

no customs charges as did three seperate orders as was free carriage so splitting them didnt matter and were sent as china post

Thoughts have changed seeing as forgot that the windows at the front of the house are patterned glass so they will need to go outside and both those options can do that anyway.

The turrent/dome is it motorised? so I could alter its view without going up the ladders?

They say PoE is optional? does that mean as standard they come with Ethernet and you need to order additional for PoE? I have a PoE switch already just don't really want to run cables all over the house but I may have to as these do look good.

yep both are external camera with high IP66 rating

The turrent/dome is it motorised? so I could alter its view without going up the ladders?
no its not PTZ (pan tilt zoom) but once you have the location fixed then jobs done, its 2 axis so can be horizontally or vertically mounted
you can also order them with a different size lens to chhange viewing angle

4mm fitted standard gives you F2.0, horizontal viewing angle : 69.4 °
(6mm, 12mm optional )

POE is included as you will know POE just supplys the power to connected device via rj45 instead of also having to run a separate power supply feeds to each camera along with the camera feed on the rj45, as my server is in upstairs room the cables just run up into loft and then out by the soffits to each camera

I did a shit load of research before getting these including pestering my mate that run a commercial cctv company for 14 years and pound for pound i didnt find anything better and like say they embarrass stuff 3-4 times there price

Thought I'd add my 2 cents in. I recently ordered the foscam f19804w for outside my house. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with the 720p picture quality. Setting it up was a pain in the arse, and I ended up returning it. Not to mention the cable bundle coming out of the camera is about 28mm at its widest point so a fucking big hole is needed to drill into the house.

I will probably stay with foscam for my internal camera but as for external ill look elsewhere. As for software I was using Blue Iris, it had everything I wanted and couldnt fault it.

I got a foscam FI19821W mainly due to it being hd (720p) picture quality isn't that bad but colour is shite tried tinkering a little bit. Also depending on what software you use there's huge lag and pan/tilt is a little clunky.

Paid no import duty as value under £135 made sure I sent mine as three separate items as mentioned above and they attracted no tax also pretty sure as it was sent post and not ups etc

What/where have you put the two types of cameras?

Number of places you can put them to suit your own needs, covering entrance exit points and external perimeter was my choice 👍
