Smashed Screen & Backing Up

Hi Guys

Wife has dropped her iPhone 5s and smashed the screen. I have tried to back up the handset to my laptop but it keeps giving me the error regarding having a passcode on the handset un able to back up please remove pass lock to continue.

Only problem is the handset is smashed half way across the keypad section and cant input the code.

Is there a way around this at all??

No method I'm aware of, not unless it's already backed up to iCloud. Other than that you need to replace the front and then back it up.
