    Default XBMC >> Mash.up Gone!

For those of you using Mash.up on XBMC, it will be gone following the latest update. I've not done much digging yet but it doesn't sounds like it will be back anytime soon.

Just a heads up more than anything else.

However, it's an interesting one in my mind. Quite often when something like this topples, another 3 pop up. I imagine this will cause a lot of upset for those who have bought boxes based on addons like this one. These same people often say they appreciate the risks when they buy this stuff but then they jump up and down when it's gone.

It's a real shame as it was a good app. There are alternatives but I for one won't be turning to i.Stream [which will probably go next if these apps are being targeted]. The guys behind that app used the community to test their app and give them ideas for features. Then the last I heard they weren't developing the free version anymore, only the version which was available on the box that you buy from them [probably via Android OTA]. A digusting horrible tactic in my mind. I never visited their site again after that and removed the app.

It's going to be interesting to see just how much of a ripple this causes in the matrix as people will want to flock to something else and a lot of people who own these boxes are complete chimps that have just bought them from FleaBay. Similar to $ly, too many dossers making a quick £ from someone elses hardwork, marketing it and making a living out of it.

If any of this is accurate then it's the first major attempt at breaking streaming movies, which to be fair has been a long time coming.

    Thanks to AP0ll0UK

Genesis works ok but is fairly basic in comparison.

Rumour has it that another addon is brewing.....

I loved mashup. Genesis seems an ok alternative. Never could get icefilms to work on VM just kept on getting scripting errors, same with simple player.

Salts and Genisis for me. When you take the time to open a traktv account and then configure those two addons with your traktv account number they really do both meet 90% of all TV and movie viewing. If you add a real debrid account at £2 per month then you have flawless buffer free viewing. For sport It has been sports devil for me which can be hit and miss but the development has now been taken over by one of the full time good coders and I expect to see sports devil work like it used to very soon.

Shame it's gone. I tend to wait for a DVD release before watching any films just to get a DVD-rip quality. I'll miss it for the TV series catalogues it had. Will try another

Just turned on my ATV yesterday to find Icefilms not working. I use unblock us as a DNS region changer on Netflix but this has no effect on xbmc. I hear Kodi is the new kid on the block but is this being affected in the same way?

Kodi is xbmc, quite why they've renamed it I'm not sure!

Because it is no longer mainly associated as an Xbox Media Centre.

Renaming to KODI was a firm decision made by the developers to bring it away from its roots and progress towards the future.

The new loading logo screen (WIP from Samfisher) which is currently being negotiated, is excellent.

Ok, so it will be the same as xbmc with the same apps? It does look heavily advertised over on TvAddons which looks as if it's the new thing to have, which it is. But I image it will have the same ISP restrictions that seem to be rolling out more and more?
