Hotpoint aqua tumble drier

Anyone any idea to mend this appliance can't really afford a new one till after Xmas it started randomly tripping rcd so was told to remove back panel and dry it out. I did this and now it trips as soon as you press the button. Was gonna order a new thermostat and heater element but this is gonna cost about £50 so could do with a heads up just in case it's not worth wasting the money

At a guess I'd say the heating element has shorted if the RCD is tripping but I'm no expert on these things. Can you unplug the thermostat and run it to see if it still trips??

Had a dishwasher doing the same. Turned out to be an earth leak tripping the rcd. I'm not sure if that's much help to you though mate.

Disconnect the heating element and see if it trips the rcd, also check the drum is moving freely.
we had one of these before and it caused so much hassle I threw it away.

Next time avoid the big name expensive ones they are all the same.

hotpoint are the worst all ways fuck up instead of £50 parts look on ebay for a 2nd hand replacement to get you by.

we were in the same boat as u with our hotpoint dishwasher it packed up didn't have cash to go by new one so got a 2nd hand bosch one for £50 and that was 2.5 years ago and the bosch never skipped a beat in all that time ;-)

I've ordered the tstat pack this morning see how I get on with that it looks like the heater kit comes with the tstat kit on it but I'll try the cheaper option first. I noticed I'd cracked a tile on the kitchen floor after I put the drier back yesterday more bloody work and money

Well the tstat kit didn't work but a new heater has and it back up and running only cost £40 thank god. Hopefully no more surprises like this before next year plz
