$ky have done a massive amount of advertising around getting customers back, they also are offering massive discounts to returning customers for the first 6 months they come back, I can't imagine they want to risk a negative customer service event by doing a major change to cards/boxes so close to Christmas.
Looking at the amount of android set to boxes being advertised around the place I wouldn't be surprised if they are going to target those next.
Sky are also testing the complete package as full iptv service through broadband with no dish. But of course realist you would already no this anyway.
Might have to start looking for new job next year.

Yep was aware of this for a while big changes coming over the next 12 to 18 months and its all part of project Ethan.
Ive always said that once fibre kicks off big time (another snippet) that Sky are working on and streaming from the cloud is coming and hence self install, plug in and away the customer goes.
This is why engineers (Sky) are all being trained to fix fibre, phone and other related phone issues for the future.

my motivation for the original post was that I wanted to let people know about anything I hear just in case it does turn out to be true, I don't want loads of dfers investing in something that will be shutoff weeks after they have spent their hard earned cash. also if anyone else heard the same it would not be right, not to post it and keep others in the loop and aware.
I personally hope they don't but if they do then they do. I believe sky is way too dear and should be much cheaper, hopefully this should help to push out a cheaper price on their behalf. only time will tell.

Excuse me if I am talking out of my backside as I know fa about the scene, but I was just thinking if the main provider was to upgrade to security that could be defeated, wouldn't the major players in the naughty game just buy 50 odd legit subs, then just put these all on different channels and set them up with some kind of digital video recording device/software, then they could stream the vast majority of what people want.
@over carl, I know of one such 'player' in this market that has already trialled just this kind of setup, yes its easily done but would need 1 box/card per channel. unless they have some kind of business fibre which is mega fast I cannot see it coming through anytime soon.
