I wouldn't get the whole set yet, just get a couple of each from emuparadise or Rom Hustler until you have it working then hunt down the rest.

Mame sets depend on what version of mame your using.

does it need updating or anything to run? I got a behemoth sized download about a year ago and just gave up as it needed updating to the latest romset and I just didnt have the patience to work it out.

It does say on the site that it is not the latest version but should suffice?

It seems fine here - I just unzipped the 40something GB zip file which gave me all the ROMs zipped up, and then installed MameUIFx and pointed it at the folder. It scanned all the games and displays the ones in green that are fully working and red any that have issues.

Seems pretty good to me and they're working fine on my HTPC which is all I wanted

sweet, I have never fully understood MAME. I always got working packages on disk and played them but when it came to updating, I was lost.

That front end seems to work nicely mate, takes all the guess work out of it anyway

I just found they've got the full Amiga set on that archive.org site too - that's made my day!!

    The best link ever:
