The reason I ask is you should consider it, it's very nice to see videos of gifts sent that make a difference but for very little effort you could be involved and stuff you would either throw away or is sitting in cupboards probably never to be used again really makes a difference and the more direct the charity or organisation the better.

I have been involved for years in what is just a group of people who send boxes to villages in the Philippines we send all our childrens old clothes our old clothes, toys etc anything that is no longer of use to us when we have a couple of big boxes it goes and costs about £60 a box, it takes a couple of months to arrive but makes a big difference. As a throw away society we have so much to give and you can get a nice warm feeling seeing how much help it brings them.

Absolutely mate, that's a really nice thing. I wish more of us would do it.

I do it with my daughters school twice a year, we just empty some food cupboards from home and any "tat" we have knocking about and things from pound stores etc.

We've only ever had letters back, never any videos yet, but we've sent them to Kismu & Menu, Kenya for this year. If I ever had the money, I'd love to go over and see it when they receive them.

I've done these for years. But never received a letter or video back. I'd like to see who my box goes to, but I guess the logistics of that would be somewhat difficult.

Update: Apparently the nanny is now confined to a wheelchair due to a good beating she received from the baby’s dad and is feeding through tubes.
She is using hearing aids and is now remanded in LUZIRA Prison (Uganda) waiting for her case to be reviewed. The State Attorney upped her charge from child battering to attempted murder.
