Default Lollipop on my 2nd gen Nexus 7...

Shite, my previously slick and pleasure to use tablet is now a dog!

I've had to erase/reset twice and start from scratch. It's better, but still nowhere near as slick as it was. And it really was. I'm as gutted as you mate.

No problems when our lass plays hers.

I did flash software manually instead of waiting for the ota. I do the same with my nexus 5 as I prefer a fresh install when updates come out.

    Thanks.

Gave it a go, and was hopeful - but sadly it's no better. Click an app and waaaaaaait. Lock screen takes ages to open. Updated chrome seems slightly better. I don't have time right now but will definitely be looking into putting KK back onto it.

Yeah, so is mine. I hadn't clocked Blaggard's title. I think it was being discussed elsewhere too so presumed this was that thread I guess... There's aparently a 5.0.1 fix that can be flashed but I've not looked into it.

In any case, I decided to see what I could do with a bit of web searching and system dabbling. I've disabled everything Google - so Now, Location, Play Books/Music/Newstand etc. Everything I don't use. Similarly system stuff such as NFC. Then I've set the animation transitions to 0 and the background process limit to at most 3 processes. So far, the tablet is usable again. I can actually open Play Store and download an app again. YouTube even works too...

Yesterday they released the 5.0.2 update for the 2012 wifi model... those on XDA who flashed the image say it now runs like it did on kitkat..

Feature wise is there really any point in doing this on a nexus 7. Gen 1 or Gen 2?
