IPTV - Worth It?

Ive been looking into IPTV providers and was wondering if anyone on here uses these services, and have a few questions

How is the quality?
How is the uptime?
Is it worth it?

I will more than likely be streaming through an XBMC client of sorts, may go for a dedicated box if I find its working out.

I currently have Virgin Media Tivo but we only really watch the "terrestrial" channels, Dave, Fox and Sky Sports News (I say we, Me )

I have been using an IPTV service. Most are second tier suppliers, so can't control the channels. This means that there will be times when the channel you want, at a time you really want it, isn't available.


HD channels are not as good as broadcast HD, by far. But better than broadcast SD. You really notice the reduced bitrate during sporting events.


I pay less than a tenner a month (I bought a 12 month sub up front). I also use a NOWTV box, at the moment. But my supplier supports XBMC, Android, Enigma 2, MAG250 and Roku boxes.

i pay £4.50 per month for offside streams, but use it for sport only

hd streams are decent, it ran like shit for a while a few months ago but has got its act together

There are a few m3u / m3u8 files on pastebin that you can download.
Copy into notepad and save as unicode .m3u8 file and load into VLC player.
This lists the channels as a playlist and you can watch whatever's in the list.

Be aware that some/most probably won't work but at least you'll get an idea of the quality.

I've just subscribed to a service for 6 months after a trial, will feed back after boxing day, as main reason was sports it has all the usual sports channels plus many I've never heard of. Will play via e2 boxes xbmc also have an android app available too.

Single login only though.

Im not sure as, he used to just provide a ip list and you used the native xbmc live tv client.

I am more of a plex man, but i have been playing with XBMC for a few days and some good sports and movies about. Good Free sports

I prefer to watch my footy on a HD stream. Usually comes at a price. The bitrate is still shit. But it's better than broadcast SD.
