OK. Quick question.
If I am running telephone cable in the ground along the edge of the house, do I need to run armoured? I will get an external cable, of course. Just wondered if the extra for armoured, was worth it, in others opinions.

If you used something like armour flex cable (but on smaller scale obviously) that might help as it would be a faraday cage almost. Or run in metal piping.
Just another thought - have you checked the modem remains connected, could be interference with something further upstream.
Oh oh and mate says avg height would be about 3200 both take off and land at that distance.

So.... Could it be radar that is interfering with my wifi? It seems to be really bad at times and fine at others. I have noticed it worse when it's cloudy out, but that may be coincidence.

what home hub do you have now mate and have you tried the offcom wifi checker app might help locate any issues
Displacing signals through either a non-direct path or a longer path instead of direct, otherwise known as multipath. A big hunk of metal (ie a plane) is a perfect way of displacing a signal, whether it be TV broadcast signals or binary data. A plane is a perfect reflector - not good for your folks though..
Obviously the signal comes back the usual route once the obstacle has passed.
Consider a good Wi-fi router such as the TP-LINK W9980 - I got this to replace my BT HH5 as I wanted more control over my VPN stuff. It has 600Mbps Dual Band Wi-fi and gigabit ports. It retails for about £60 and for ehat it can do is very good value.
The wireless range is excellent and whereas I used to get 1 bar of signal on my IPad at the far end of the house, I now get full bars.
