Rant Another VM Price Increase for our "free" 200mbps upgrade!

    Hi Guys,

These price increases are doing my head in especially with the "free" upgrade"; these increases seem to be a six monthly thing now.

200mbps on their website is £42.75.

I'm currently paying £39.00 for 152mbps up from £32.00 in January.

Are you on any good offers?

I don't need the speed anymore as I spend most time at the country estate.
Ditched virgin after they wanted £26 for basic bb.

Went to sky and got it with with a new phone line plus
    phone for £16

    Won't be going back

I was paying Around £40 a month for basic tv, home phone and 50meg BB. I ditched the TV package as I don't watch 'live' telly and said I wanted just the BB as I don't use the home phone.. they wanted £35 for that (50 meg). Guy told me IF I keep the home phone I can get phone and 50meg BB for £26 as they discount multiple packages so I went for that option. Seems weird to cost a lot less for two packages rather than just the one.

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

While the regular price rises are frustrating, I find I just need to suck it up. VM for me is better than other providers by a country mile.

Theory: I believe virgin have 300mb available. They just roll it out bit by bit to incur a price hike.

They all do it. Used to be a sub contractor at BT and they were testing 200mb BB between Cambridge and London and that was at least 5 years ago.

I did use Virgin at one point (can't get it where I am now) unless things have changed they had great speeds but AWFUL pings and I did notice a lot of traffic shaping at peak times.

    Thanks to piggzy

For me it was easy what I do with sky and virgin is play the companys against each other this time it was BT. I sort of timed it for the start of the footy season . Told them that BT are giving me a decent package and free BT sports. The fella says if you stay I will give you it for 26 knicker. You will do me big lad.

That pretty much paraphrases exactly what I was saying to the Mrs last night when she said we were getting upgraded to 200 in January.

Will be interested to hear how your telephone conversation with them goes.

Got a letter saying price going up. Spoke to retentions who reduced my bill by £10 a month and upgraded me to 200mb. I do this every year.

Went back to virgin after 2 days. Sky couldn't give me the bandwidth I needed for my droid box.

Actually there is a department above retentions that can give you a better deal

Got 50 meg for £16 for 12 months. That's double what I actually need to stream on the android box at 1080p

    Happy days

It's there for the taking mate. I always weigh up the agent and change tack to suit their demeanour. It's a doddle. Ended up talking to this lad today about networking - he would have talked all day. If it had been a bird I'd have gone with the kids angle and said the missus is the boss etc etc. Give them/the company a pat on the back and they'll pull the best offers.

Just got my letter. 9% increase. Crooks!

I will give them a call. I don't mind 5%, but 9% is taking the piss!
