How has life changed since you joined DF?

I joined in July 2001. I was married with a little one, living in the Midlands in a junior tech job.

Now, nearly 14 years (yes fooking 14 years!!!!!!!) later, I've been divorced 10 years, nearly married someone after 5 years, separated from them 3 years, made my way up to company director and my baby boy is now 6ft 2 and can grow a beard by lunchtime.

How has your life changed since you joined? And is it where you thought it would be now?

January 2001 i was working in camberley for Nortel networks as a software developer. No kid, single with a brand new impreza wrx. Rented accomodation. Lots of clubbing.

Now living in cheshire and working as a head of department at a college, married with a kid and another on the way. Driving a prius, lol. Now a home owner. Hardly go out.

Couldnt be happier. I guess DF has changed over the last 14 years in a similar fashion. Its very pipe and slippers these days, a lot quieter than it was a decade ago.

Joined in 2001 too (I think) at the time I was probably either in a shitty job, or 'between jobs', Single and desperate to mingle. Had my finger in a fair few undisclosed pies.

Since then been in about out of 5 or 6 jobs, been to college a few times, met my now wife 4 years ago, trained to teach abroad and left the UK. Now got a 4 month old baby, house and been offered assistant manager role at the school I work at. Learnt to ride a bike too.

Other than a sex change, its hard to imagine much more of a change really.

Joined sometime when I wanted help with a DBOX. stayed around since.

From then I was happily married with kids and thought everything was hunky dory. we never had any money but I was happy.
She after 14 uears got found out that she was in it for the money/house. but I got lucky got a great barrister that took her apart in court.

2nd Partner I was with for 4 years, at the start everything was great. did some kinky things that ticked a few of them middle life boxes. Went pear shaped when she went thru the change. Happy times.

Well I am now being in a relationship for 8 months and am loving it. she maybe the one who knows. but at the end of the day there has always been DF there at my side. DF has never cheated on me and I hope it don't go thru the menopause

funnily enough i was going to post as my i nearly hit my 10year joining date in jan.
for me a lot has changed but it the latter part, i now have 2 kids

About the same time as joining in 2001 I started long term relationship with X2 step kids and my own daughter...very happy as became a grandad last year with another on the way. Step kids both accepted for uni next year so very happy about that. Just wish i had a better job with better pay. looking hard so lets hope new year brings better luck on job hunt

loads has changed since I first joined.
I joined, stayed around for a bit, then changed jobs, and forgot I'd signed up.

my youngest is now 12, I changed jobs and am now offshore, my wife got a degree in criminology, my eldest son is 18 and off to uni next year.
and we got a dog.
and i'm now self employed, and my head is poking through my once thick lions mane of hair. 40's are definitely the age to be. never had so much fun.

Joined in jan 2001 and i would say my life has panned out pretty much how i wanted.

Had been dating a local lass for a year back then, Since then we got married in 2005, and now have 2 daughters aged 8(going on 15) and 5. Still work in IT doing pretty much the same as i did back then, Also have my own IT business that i run part time and have started performing magic and hypnosis publicly in the last few months

Like a lot of the old timers I joined in 2001 looking for information on PS2 related stuff (ahem). Was a DF SMOD for a while then left due to creative differences lol. Since then I've popped back every few years.

I was temping in various jobs back then, nothing you could call a career.

Luckily I managed to change a hobby into gainful employment and currently work in I.T in the Offshore O&G industry.

My lad is now 25 and I feel a very old 43

Not one one for change, still married to the girl I met at 18 (married at 25), my daughter is now 13 going on 30 and my son is 17 and learning to drive.

i was self employed back then, but now employed with the same company.

still in the same house I bought back in 93, albeit much larger with extensions etc.

Back in 2006 i bought a shop with a big 4 bed maisonette, which I converted into 2 two bed flats and ran the shop as well as my full time job for a year, I then sold the business with a 25 year lease on the shop a year later. Oh and we got a dog.

well in since i joined in 05 i have had various girlfriends moved 8 times, (just got a permananent place) quite a few deaths in the family (rip mum)
and managed to evade the law and stay out of trouble
anyways now im happy got 3 kids one is my stepdaughter but i treat her equaly so say she is mine.
my partner i actually met and worked with in 2001/2002, lost touch but new years eve 2009/2010 got chatting to her on facebook after all these years and now we are a family.

life is good at the moment we have had our struggles and ups and downs like any couple but as much as i moan about my missus she fights for this family and sticks by me through all kinds of trouble

anyway im loving all these stories

Joined in Jan 2010. I was 2 years into my career as a 3rd engineer in the merchant navy - at the time I was working in Colombia as sole engineer onboard a luxury superyacht, earning about £3000 a month. (No social life, working all the time). Young, free and single.

Then I came home and got a job on a research vessel in the north sea - met my now wife, as she was a scientist onboard, and a few years later we married. I since left that job and now I am working in the North Sea as you all know.

After over a year of pure stress of trying for a family, we are now expecting our first child in 4 months. Life couldnt be better :-)

Joined in March 2001 after THOIC and ondigi fun

Was buyer and then operations manager for mobile phone /airtime distributor for ten years then they go sold and decided to take my redundancy after 16 weeks of traveling to the hell hole that is ipswich.

Setup my own repairs business back end of 2010 and currently still doing that, although very recently things have quietened off dramatically due to my two biggest buyback sites no longer selling refurb handsets into China and Hong kong markets.

had few long term wenches over those years but currently enjoying single life again and deciding on what i want to do in life, might even return to employment once i can decide what the hell i want to do !

I was a boy when I joined. An apprentice Engineer. I also came from THOIC and the fall out. This place was recommended by someone on the forum when it all kicked off. Didn't really understand what had happened at the time.


Been a long time. I now have several grey hairs and 2 kids.
