Default Amazon TV, NowTV or new TV etc?

    Hi Guys,

Looking to buy one for my Mum as she doesn't have a smart TV :/ I'll be setting up Plex, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

    What would you advise?

A one box one solution would be Amazon fire TV box mate. Maybe some new TV's can take both netflix and amazon prime, but the chances of all three are slim. I might be wrong though.

The now tv box on its own has no netflix or amazon.

The new Sony TV I bought (W8 series) does all three without a hack, maybe all the new Sony's do I dunno.

Edit: I presume you mean it can see a plex server on a home network and play its content.

I'd go with Amazon Fire TV. It does Plex, Netflix and Amazon Prime as well as XBMC and all work brilliantly. The menu's are all very snappy as well. I've retired an Apple TV and an Acer Revo since I got mine at UK launch.

The Now TV is the cheap choice for Plex, Iplayer, 4OD etc. No netflix or amazon prime.

If you want all 3 the Amazon TV is the best choice.

If you want to splash for a new TV. There are a few which cover all 3. Including Samsung and Sony.

What about the Roku? It's basically the NowTV box but with more channels like Netflix etc. Some good deals out there at the moment. Think Currys do it for under £40 for the USB stick. I have a Roku 2 XD and it is very good. The only advantage really is that Roku allows you to install more channels/games. Other than that they are pretty much the same thing. I also have a NowTV box but my kids nabbed that haha.

Also my LG has all three with no hacks needed. Has Now TV,Netflix,Amazon Prime and I even use it for IPTV
