    Default Command and conquer alternatives

Seeing as EA haven't gotten off their arse to make a decent modern updated command and conquer these days I was wondering if there are any alternatives

Command and conquer was fun due to its simplicity, tanks/soldiers and bases - no aliens (apart from the never ones), no over the top shit just pure base building and army building

Several games have tried and failed. Need something to fill my c&c fix, another similar game or even a mod for another game that coverts it to a graphically superior c&c style

So far supereme commander 2 and Starcraft 2 come to mind but the graphics don't blow me away on those

They need to make red alert 4. I loved these games.. I played for hours on my local lan with my dad and brother.

How about the Original Starcraft.. command and conquer was not about graphics.

Tiberium twilight is garbage. They have completely removed the concept of skirmish mode and added in a capture the flag as the ONLY playing mode. Should have realised by the online reviews that it wasn't worth downloading

Downloading tiberium wars now. That one was pretty decent

I like StarCraft 2, but also the HD remakes of Age of Empires 2 and Age of Mythology. Always preferred them to C&C though.

I like planetary annihilation, its got a clean simple look to it but the scale of it is very impressive. I has been on sale on steam recently I think.

It shows a lot of promise, but it was one of those dubious 'early access' games, that got kickstarted ages ago. I believe they've now released properly, but by all accounts it still feels unfinished.

for anyone wanting a true command and conquer alternative, try Act of Aggression - almost exactly like command and conquer but more modern and up to date graphics. 3 factions, the US, the Cartel and the Chimera

    loving it so far!

or you can get it in the usual places ;-)

Its a bit trickier to manage than c&c. resource fields dont last long - so you have to plan ahead. Ie if you have a refinery due to shut down, explore and find a new resource field.

Once you reach the higher tech you will need to look for rare earth deposits - there arent many of them, but POW's can also be exchanged for rare earth resources too. A properly upgraded army can take on anything.

Would love someone to make a Red Alert mod for this game. Would be awesome to roll out a few mammoth tanks at these graphic levels.

Goose, got this after your recommendation, but fuck me, am I shit or is it bloody hard? Not got into skirmish yet, but campaign is a bastard. No strategy involved, just knowing where the trigger points are for events and replaying it until you fucking memorise it.

    Rant over!
