Disabled blue badge abuse

Can police see by a car reg number if it has a blue disabled badge registered to it ?

I don't believe so.

My old ma had a blue badge whilst she was waiting for her new knees a few years back. It was registered with the council with doctors authority. There was nothing which fed back into the PNC or VOSA/DVLA systems.

My grandad used to make us take his if we took him out as he had real issues walking and said that it was understood that you could do that.

My car is registered disabled and I have a blue badge ( i only use it when I use my wheelchair )
the two are not linked so when I go out in another car say with a mate I can take the badge with me and use it in their car.

however the badge holder must be present to use the badge my wife cannot use it without me in the car.
i have seen so many assholes parking in bays and stroll off with nothing wrong with them.

as a user of the bays (when I need to) I don't stay quiet anymore I actually say to people do you need to park there!
my wife goes mental at them.

This cunt must have serious money. I was talking to a young girl in the sauna tonight who worked in the gym bar up until a few months ago. She told me they made him move from tge disabled bays a few times so he went out and got himself a blue badge.

This boils my piss.
I have a son diagnosed with autism, he has it very mild imho.
He lives with my ex who takes the piss and milks the system as much as she can. She got a disabled badge ffs. Why? He can walk, talk, communicate and do everything every other child can just has some issues socially and only occasionally.

I had to fill in some paper work about a year ago regards to my son. I was honest and she had the badge taken away. Did her nut.
I never once used it.

Blue badges are definitely tied to a person, not a vehicle. They are for the benefit of the disabled person so are portable between vehicles but that person must be present when using badge.
There was a case a while back I remember where some bint had gone shopping using her Mum's badge. When returning to her car alone and challenged she said that her Mum couldn't walk any further and therefore she was 'going round the corner' to pick her up. Unknown to her, the warden had traced the badge back to her Mum and got her phone number, called her Mum at home a good few miles away. Got done well and truly.


As for your Lambo driver, the blue badge can be awarded for a shit load of conditions which are not just limited to physical limitations. Mental illnesses and chronic/terminal illness get the nod.
This guy does sound like he's a chancer but might well have the badge for legit reason. I wouldn't be surprised if he's also claiming DLA/PIP and financing some of the cost of the car using his allowance.
Motability scheme vehicles also have the cost of the Road Fund Licence paid IIRC. The tax disc used to have 'DISABLED' printed on the disc to show it was exempt. Now they've gone you cannot tell.

I'd get the council to challenge him as he gets in/out of the car and prove the badge belongs to him. If they multiple complaints about the same car/person parking, like Tj says above, they will monitor it.
I'd expect them to act quite quickly too if they know where, when and how often as he'd be a sitting target. Quick and easy prosecution for them and they tend to publicise offenders too, every now and again.

As for parking in a disabled spot, that's another story.
The gym's likely to be on private property, not on the highway, and so disabled bays are there for courtesy and again, IIRC there's no legal right to not park in them. I've had many a discussion with my local supermarkets about this as the ignorance of parking in these spots really winds me up. I think it's a case of civil action against them rather than a proper parking ticket.

The gym has since beginning of January outsourced the parking bays to a private firm to apply fine tickets to cars not displaying blue badges. All the correct signage is in place outside. Trouble is no cunt has been done yet as im sure they only work in daylight hours.

Sounds familiar. Asda round my way employs the local council to patrol. Apparently, they come round once a working-day between 11am and noon for about 10 minutes.

There's generally 3 types of bay, Disabled, Parent&Kids and Mums to be.
Personally I'd give the trolley collectors the job of policing the courtesy bays and give them wheel clamps. Clamp anyone who shouldn't be there and charge a release fee. Any money paid could then be donated to the local diasbled/poorly kids charities so it's no seen to go into the stores coffers.

Using a blue badge illegally is council problem though and should, I hope, be unrelated to where someone parks. They issue the badges and are responsible for enforcing correct usage and abuse thereof.

From what I believe private firms/individuals can no longer clamp cars and I don't think they have ever been allowed to clamp cars displaying disabled badges.
