Help Vauxhall Astra keyfob, immobiliser question

Question for any petrol heads on here...

I left my car outside my mums all day today went back to it tonight and the keyfob control doesn't work, usually you press it and the car's indicators flash car opens or closes etc, no problem i can get a battery for it tomorrow i thought, i'll just open it with the key and drive home, but no, the car is completely dead, so my question is, is the car immobilised because i can't unlock it via the fob? or is it just something simple like a dead car battery?

The car is a 2006 Vauxhall Astra estate by the way.

    Cheers.

If it's an immobiliser issue, you will have a spanner symbol on the instrument panel when you turn the key.

Remote control shouldn't make a difference to immobiliser function - there is a chip in the key that needs no battery for the immo. The remote central locking/alarm side is totally seperate to the immobiliser chip.

If there is nothing lighting up on the instrument panel or it is flickering, your car battery is probably dead.

Cheers mate it must definitely be the car battery then because when i turn on the ignition it's completely dead, i'll try jump starting it tomorrow and take it from there.
