I got a M808B over christmas, small box that is hidden behind the tv, plugs into a USB port on the TV for power.

My only issue is the bluetooth on it is terrible so the keyboard i got to go with it does not stay connected when i sit on my sofa!

Thinking of getting a Amazon Fire TV next week as you can put XBMC/Kodi on those

As for XBMC/Kodi, have been using it for years with various different devices (xbox, mac, apple tv) and always loved it, just never used it full time for some reason. Think I'm still into the download and horde method rather than streaming everything

    Thanks

Amazon Fire with TVMC, effortless and preconfigured.

My ISP allows me to stream, other providers don't, I guess you might b able to overcome that with VPN setup on a router?

Bought myself a Droidbox T8 and it is an amazing bit of kit that comes with a wizard that adds updated sources each week, well worth the cash imo (£99 atm), I got my parents a Fire TV (£79 atm) side loaded Kodi + sources on to and it works nearly as smooth as my T8 box, no 4k & no where near as many sources and channels though

You can also use a real debris account for streaming from sites that are blocked by ISP. its like €4 a month though but well worth it imo

Looking into it apparently a lot of apps dont work as Amazon used there own OS a version of Android but apparently most apps cant run on it.
More can run if rooted but I read that everytime Amazon do an update you have to re-root it.

The info I read was a good 12 months old so maybe someone hear knows differently.
It does look tempting for the price, more powerful than the Roku 3.

    Hmmmmmm

Its up and running with no issues at all, could even do it from a Mac! No rooting required, just sideload the app and its sorted. You then use another app (llama) to create a rule where you open a certain app, it quits and loads Kodi. but its so quick you don't see the first app load!

When I bought it, the cashier in Currys said "Loads of these selling at the moment!" I just smiled and gave her my cash.

As for Kodi on the Fire TV, quite easily the best Kodi/XBMC experience I have EVER had from a TV Box, its so smooth thanks to the 2gb ram and CPU. I used to download everything, convert from mov to m4v and stream through iTunes to Apple TV, not any more. Was watching a 1080p stream last night of Birdman and the quality was OUTSTANDING considering I was streaming the thing! I do however know that this is more down the to real debris account, but at €4 a month, its cheaper than my newsgroup subscription and I don't need my Mac on 24/7 for downloads.

My Apple TV will be feeling neglected soon. I think I may get rid

Just need to get my gonna.mobi streams to work on it, and I will be a very happy bunny! Although I currently stream through the PS4 browser so no biggie if it doesn't.

My only issue with the device is the remote not being infra red, meaning I cannot program my One for All Xsight Touch to work with it, would be nice to have been able to do that.

Took delivery of my M8 tv box today.

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/M8-An...243963645.html

So far very impressed. Very fast. Excellent pic quality, streams 1080p no probs. Claims it is 4k ready(although prolly just downscales)

Only downside is the remote is utter shit. I assume I can get a better one/controller for kids games e.t.c.
I connected a Bluetooth keyboard to it and thatworked well during setup e.t.c

Any recommendations for remotes/controllers. Not tried yet but I assume I must be able to control it from my other Android devices.

    Thanks

Only played briefly with FireTV before passing it off to inlaws. It worked but somehow I didnt like the feel. I really do like the M8 and its useable Windows 8 style UI, or at least I will when I find a better remote. It really doesnt make sense to me why they would manufacture such a good and relatively powerful box to bundle it with a remote that does not at all match the hardware.

Although I didnt play with the Fire for long I found a lot would not work on it even with side loading.

If it helps my setup is using MB3 as Media Server (ditched plex in favour of this and not looked back - noticeable image quality improvement)
Still trying a few different clients on the M8 including Media Browsers android client.

I use one of these which I find works almost perfectly (some of the buttons have different mappings to their picture on the keyboard!) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Wire.../dp/B00GTQ0J4G

The main issue you will have is if you have the M8 box then there is no physical power button on it, you can use an app to put it to sleep but these controllers don't seem to have a power on\wake button on them so you may be stuck with the original control too. It's not a problem for me as I've got a different android box with a power button on it.
