News Amazon Fire phone 32GB £99 lightning deal

    Amazon Fire Phone, 32 GB (O2) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IFQ56..._YHdYub1FYHYQN

Apparently great hardware let down by a poor os but must be worth a punt at this price ?

Locked to o2. I would consider one if unlocked or unlockable but useless to me as they stand.

    64GB also available for £149

As HUKD has pointed out - you can sell it to envirofone for £150 at the moment!

    Hey,

I have just come off a chat with an 'O2 Guru'
Apparently you have to put in an O2 PAYG sim card with £5 credit for 72 hours. After that you can contact them and they will unlock it.
I am tempted, I was looking just before Xmas and I think I even posted to ask if it was any good.

BUT... I have just researched and even though you can sideload apps (as it does not have the Play Store, only Amazon Apps Store), a lot of apps will not work..
The Google Apps will not run, I am struggling to find the Banking Apps I use..

This is a big let down and I honestly think it would be a waste of my £150 with the frustrations it will bring.

It is a shame because that price for a powerful 4G device is great!

It is worth noting also that previously they gave you 1 years free prime. That offer has expired now with this deal (not unexpected).
If they did still give the 1 years Prime then I would be all over it like a rash.

    Thanks to Squizza

    Interesting. . . .I'm not sure about this OS though. . . . .
Apps are not too much of an issue for me but a medical app and my Natwest app would be missed. . ..

Just had a ferret around and it looks like the lack of Play Services etc. really cripple the 3rd party apps and that is pretty much a deal breaker for me. . .

I saw that but it seems like too much hassle Real shame.. maybe the Fire Phone 2 if it happens might play nicer.

Anyone buying to sell for profit is dumb. The biggest selling site flash selling a high end product isn't going to stay secret for long. Cex envirophone etc prices will all drop like stones
