Poll Could you help me out by completing my University Project Survey please

    Hi Guys,

Some of you may or may not remember but I had a very serious motorcycle crash in 2005. Although I am no longer a biker (although I kept my crashed bike) I still follow the scene and I am still a biker at heart.

Anyway, for a University project the team that I am apart of is looking to build a modern S.O.S tag that you can wear or have on you.

We are currently conducting project research on whether our idea is viable and would be something other bikers would use.

I would be very greatfull if you could complete this evelen question questionnaire which will take less than five minutes.

Any suggestions and/or comments are most welcome

Done although I haven't had a motorbike for a few years now it's a good idea but actually having the equipment on each medic could be a costly issue.

You might think smartphone but the nhs won't pay for shit these days.
whats the plan on reading these tags and where would you keep it? Pocket, wallet, around your neck?

couldn't these same details be on a card like a driving license?

It is going to be on an encrypted NFC tag which we can buy in bulk through the University[/quote]

Good point, thanks. I'll look into that. I was thinking inserted into the jacket and helmet with a notification on the bike and helmet; a sticker.

Hope the form is not part of your course, as it jumps from 125cc - 250cc.

A bit like a dog chip? where they scan you, maybe.

    Thanks to lagigolo

Dr's won't tag tags/tattoos etc for blood group they'll only use them for identifying things to avoid like diabetes or allergies etc.

simple solution ive seen is that you save a pic of your email address, other contact details such as next of kin etc (similar to saving ice number on phone) as your phone screen saver. Obviously potential to break in a crash but so does any electronics.

also what's the difference between social and pleasure?

Personally I don't think it matters if bikers use it. It's about whether the emergency services will know to check it, or have time.

There is that medi tag thing on the iPhone. No one knows about it to check the damn thing. I suppose it's just a modern version of the allergy bracelet...

Very true, thanks for the responses and feedback so far. The subject is to prove that we could start/run a company if we chose to, we don't actually have to build it.

Done. I do ride a bike, but mostly I'm cycling. Don't see why something like this can't be used for anybody on the road IMO.

To prove its a viable business you need the end users in agreement. Whilst you might think that's the bikers, in reality it's the paramedics and a+e staff - trust me I know enough dr's they won't go on tattoos or tags or anything saying blood group etc, the only things they take heed of is allergy or diabetes info. It also takes next to no time to check blood type, in the mean time they'll start them on o negative and/or saline. Sorry mate, don't want to piss on your parade but you should def have someone from the medical side backing up info they'd want, how it would be coded and ensured to be correct etc.

i dont disgree agree it's the way of the future and babies will probably be chipped so you can keep details of inoculations etc but as it stands a Dr in a+e is not going to take the chance of giving the wrong blood type so unless passed by the gmc I doubt it would stand a chance.
