It will not be bricked - have a look in the forums on XDA Developers you will be able to sort it.

I do not have an S5 I think the model number is G900F something - you can find samsung fw on this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
I would grab from there and flash using odin but best to do some reading so you know what to do / risks involved before you start
Can you not get into recovery? Did you not take a full backup of everything before you started meddling? Could you not just restore it?

Grab original fw from that sammobile site and try that? Have you tried a different usb port / cable with odin?
I spent an age trying to fix my S4 as it kept failing in odin, switched usb ports and it worked first time.

If you've got the factory flash, it may be worth looking to see if there is a set of instructions to flash using Heimdall Suite.
I remember messing with an old Galaxy S and Cyanogenmod - at one stage I totally trashed the file system on the phone but Heimdall sorted it out pretty fast.
I have this command saved in a text file which is what I used to flash that phone back to stock each time I messed it up, but that phone was about 5 generations older.
heimdall.exe flash --IBL+PBL boot.bin --CACHE cache.rfs --FACTORYFS factoryfs.rfs --DBDATAFS dbdata.rfs --MODEM modem.bin --PARAM param.lfs --SBL Sbl.bin --KERNEL zImage
If we break this down, we have the command heimdall.exe, then the instruction to flash, then we have loads of items like --IBL+PBL boot.bin. This is saying to restore the boot.bin file from the Samsung original ROM download (which you need to decompress) to the IBL+PBL partition.
Btw, don't even bother with the Heimdall GUI. It is a broken and useless pile of cack, but this does not detract from my gratitude that they at least made the DOS version that works pretty damn well for all of us to use for free.
I remember staaying up a whole night with that project but by the end I could flash a corrupted phone to a stock rom to a version of CM of my choice in about 10 mins.
Search for recovery firmware .. Then take it from there .
Any friendly DFers in the Kent area?

Trouble all started when I read this thread and flashed the two files in post 6.
Tried various other things mentioned in that thread but no joy.
All this download the the original firmware people keep saying just isn't helping.
There are so many to download and all seem foreign or network specific my phone was always unlocked and not branded.
so please if you can point me to a direct download link.
Search recovery firmware take it from there is far too vague to say the least.

Forget my previous suggestion to use Heimdall, apparantly this doesn't work with the S5.
Is yours a G900F? If so, this might do the trick with ODIN.

Edit: I have that link open in two tabs, in one some of the links don't work so here they are in case you have problems with the links there as well.

Finally updated. Was having problems with lagging with the rom I had before, and my wifi kept reconnecting constantly, will see how it goes on lollipop, seems slow at the moment though
