From people I know that have tried 10 it is still very slow - probably still lots of debug code in it.

It's not on windows update.
You just need to download and run a small executable to kickstart the Windows Update process. You can’t simply head to Windows Update on your computer and find it under the optional updates section. It’s still a bit early in the Windows 10 development process for Microsoft to make it available there — they don’t want unwary users installing an unfinished and potentially buggy OS, after all.
You have to spoof windows update to trigger the download.
From my experience of windows preview builds, unless you have a test machine soley for it, I wouldnt bother until proper release is out.

Agreed. Still waiting on a build that works on my surface pro to fiddle with. Got enough PCs but 10 on the surface should be awesome.

Been running this on a spare machine too (not using it much to be fair)
After some recent updates I found it to have sped up quite a lot. Overall I like it. Look forward to final release.
Going to run this on met netbook tonight, only just put Window 8 on my main laptop which although is 6 years old is still a beast and does me well.
Must admit I was a fan of Win7 Enterprise, but the boot up speed of Win8 is unreal, hope this is carried through in Win 10
