    Question Albuferia, Portugal STAG DO

Since the future Mrs has barred me from Sunny beach, Maggaz etc it looks like it's Albuferia for my stag do, I've had a few good reviews & nothing negative.. Just wondering if anyone else had been? Any recommendations/tips while there..

    Hey,

Albuferia has beaches, is she not aware of that?
If you jump in a cab and goto Villamoura then it has a beach club with beds etc just like Ibiza.

I would say get an apartment with a pool though. Not much else happens around in Albuferia.

rang me missus asking what she up to and she was getting ready to go to work and I was like oh ok we just in from the pub ;-)

Yeah there was meant to be some golf in there and also a trip to Villamoura to visit Figo's bar but the revolting All Inc food and free bar all day kept us busy, hotel was cheap and shitty but did exactly what it needed too ;-)

    Thanks to akimba

I love Albufiera, it is a place we frequent as often as possible. Albeit we go with our kids in tow these days so don't go crazy (well we do, but not too crazy).

Albufiera old town is booming on a night, and so is the Strip. There are a couple of "Club" type places in Albufiera and also one on the Strip, though I haven't been in so can't comment on what goes on in there.

It tends to be full with young Dutch / Scandi kids in July & August.

    Thanks to tips

Theres plenty mayhem to be had. Just keep making her believe its a oldies type place and your sorted. As was said, theres a good strip of bars at one end and down the escalators to the old town at the other. We used the fake train/bus to get around.

The more I read about the place the more I'm looking forward to it.

Ha all I've mentioned to the future missus is the old town (where the old & retired sit drinking their wine) ;-)

Lovely place, famous for golfers. However, you can still have a proper "lads" week away lol. Go enjoy mate and his luck
If you can't run with the big dogs, stay in the porch!!!!

I thought it was a fucking awful place when I was made to go there on a stag do - Portugal is like a third world country, backwards.

Cheap but I guess you get what you pay for - not for me

    Thanks to prezzy

Got to agree with some of this. There has been mass under investment and for me an annoying aspect was the total ban of dogs in and public enclosed spaces which was a pain as I brought the dog with me. Still the people are nice and the beaches are some of the best in Europe. Shame there are no descent 5* hotels and whilst its 18 degrees today it was minus 1 last night.

Just remembered, uncle cliff has vineyards out there. His kiddy fiddling mush is all over the place when you get to the airport.

Regarding the third world country comments, I also saw that. Our villa was right next to a local restaurant who would not serve us until about the third visit... Local place for local people.

When we did get food it was cheap and very nice. A whole Sea bass for €5. I guess they just want you to stay in the tourist bits...

I feel my post was a little harsh on Portugal as a whole. It is a beatiful country I have driven round it twice while touring / camping and really enjoyed it - the coast is really nice and the people are friendly I guess for a cheap stag do Albuferia could be ok, just not for me - one of the worst touristy places you can go there.

I stand by my comment about the whole country being a bit backward though, seriously needs investment. everywhere.

Decided to fly over to Portugal for the weekend on Friday for the weekend with the misses after reading this thread.

This was the Square in Albafura on Friday night which was dead.

Fortunately the 5* was much better with this when we arrived.

And the weather this morning is great.

    2 Thanks given to JonEp
