Default I've broke my phone - help!

    Hi all,

OK, my LG G2 started playing up so I went into the TWRP recovery mode and deleted the cache - or so I thought.
I've deleted something anyway and now it doesn't boot. I think I wiped the 'system'.
Anyway, my PC doesn't recognise the phone now and obviously the OS is hosed so I've no way to manage the files.
Couldn't care less about the handset to be honest, I just want my photos off it. I can see they're still there in TWRP's file manager, I've just no way to get to them?

    Can anyone help??

    That'll be a no then I guess.

No Android experts on board at all? I'm quietly gutted.

Is the PC able to see the phone using ADB?

Just seen this on XDA which may pull the photos if ADB does work..

I'm not entirely sure about twrp. In clockwork mod you can mount the storage via USB.

Are they saved to internal memory or an sd card? If an sd card you can pop it out and put it in a reader.

Sideload a new ROM using TWRP or Fastboot, using ADB or if it allows, reinstall the same ROM from an SD Card.

Your computer no longer recognising the device because it is now a simple Android USB device and you need to load the Driver from LG to get it recognised.
Usually, Windows would recognise the phone once loaded correctly with a ROM installed and install the required driver from Windows Update.

Android is a little more confusing than IOS and iTunes because of the vast devices it can be installed to. People get confused because they automatically assume windows should sort it. But thats not the case with Android.

I have always been able to unbrick ANY android device, its just a case of understanding ADB and Fastboot.

    Thanks to DejaVu

Thanks lads. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.
I have tried ADB but my PC is a bit flaky and I didn't try hard. I must persevere, as I couldn't get device manager to load a driver for it.

No SD card unfortunately - it's a G2. I didn't want to load a new ROM as presumably that would write over the dcim gallery content.
I'm felling a bit more confident about it now. Glad I never sold my trusty S3!

Out of interest Zoots, as it's an android phone any reason why you haven't switched on auto back up to google+ so all photos get saved in the cloud?

No other answer to that pal, other than ignorance/laziness/stubbornness. And a hard to shift obsession with switching off everything that I don't want killing my battery. More fool me, I know.
Lately, I've tried to adhere to the Maltloaf school of thought and use my handset as it's meant to be used - location services, Bluetooth etc. In my defence, I tend to spend a lot of time out and about with the kids taking photos and Geocaching. The GPS does eat the battery, but I have battery packs so it's no excuse really. Hands up, busted.

    I've cracked it, happily.
Major, major issues trying to get the PC to recognise the device at all. Used something called adb-setup to load drivers (pc thinks the phone is a Samsung but it works), then used QtADB as a front end for adb and literally dragged and dropped from one window to the other in the GUI.

What I need to do now I guess is try and find the right ROM for my device and work out if I have to delete everything on there already or just install.

    Update for those that helped.
ADB (and front ends I tried/used) isn't the biggest on telling you how things are and for a long while I was very frustrated that I couldn't get a ROM file on there to flash. Of course, I'd copied all my guff off the phone but not deleted it off the phone, so there was no bloody room for the ROM zip and I wasn't getting any prompts (even from the front end I was using). I did eventually realise I was trying to squeeze a 1.5Gb file into 1.2Gb of space, freed up some room and on it went.
Next problem was TWRP not doing aaaaanything. No wipes, deleting or installing. No moving, renaming, changing permissions. Every task came up with a big, red FAILED. Then I realised it was simulating.. turned off simulation and 15 mins later booted into Kit Kat 20f.
A long journey. Apart from Cyanogen on my S3 that was basically a one click installer from their site, I've not messed with ROMs since the Orange SPV 13 years ago - but I learned a lot from reading, reading and more reading after the head start I received from you guys so a big thanks for that again. I like my S3 and it was a novelty for a while but I've missed this powerhouse and was beginning to think it was heading for a bricked G2 ad on eBay.

Yeah... need to look at something along those lines.
What I usually do is drag everything media-wise I want to keep off the phone to a hdd every few weeks. Life got in the way this time unfortunately.
